strangedisciple They’re like a smoother twangy T. Rex without the theatricality. Tbh not a style of rock I spend a lot of time with but these guys are just so good I can’t stop spinning this one. One of my favorite albums of 2025.
    Patrick Killingsworth thumbnail
Patrick Killingsworth This band does this sound oh so well. I love the first LP so I was thrilled to find out that they have this new album for 2025. How can you not feel a serotonin boost when you hear those riffs, those harmonies, and the addition of pedal steel on "Yr Gonna Be Happy" and flute on "Cool Blue Night"?! (Thanks, play near me so I can see you live sometime)

falkelord It's the mark of a truly great album when the music so greatly enhances the game, but can also stand alone as its own work. I devoured the Faceminer game in about a weekend, but not a week has gone by since where I don't throw this soundtrack on. Favorite track: Mind Games.
    fishtacular friend thumbnail
fishtacular friend ambient temperature rises whenever i listen Favorite track: Automatic.
    Nate Stevens thumbnail
Nate Stevens Is it bad when a game about a dark timeline feels so good to play? Is that a metaphor for the world we live in? Thank you to the dotzip podcast for pointing me here! Favorite track: Hypersphere.

    Wilfredo Rausseo thumbnail
Wilfredo Rausseo No words can express what the heart and soul wants to say, but as always, 40 watt sun breaks this rule. Patrick gives everything in each song, and that's actually something to admire.
    Xfn thumbnail
Xfn A voice that has lived 1,000 lives & retained all of the emotional information from each to bestow on the world. Favorite track: The Undivided Truth.
    Dr Sküllfük thumbnail
Dr Sküllfük 40 Watt Sun delivering as always, a beautiful album. The slow down on Pour Your Love’s chorus is a particularly beautiful moment, Astoria is wonderful and the guitar solos sprinkled throughout make me think of the old Warning albums in a great way. Excellent production and the electric guitar tone works so well. Also the final moments of The Undevided Truth give a little nod to the oldr albums more metal routes, very nice to hear these moments in the new material. Favorite track: Pour Your Love.

    jstar7 thumbnail
jstar7 One of the most original and interesting threash albums ever, a narrative through line that ties the album together really nicely and crushing progressive thrash unlike anything else - incredible. Favorite track: Charging the Void.
    Ghuughra thumbnail
Ghuughra I know I b*tch about over-melodic black metal a lot, but don't take that to represent a general disdain for the genre as a whole. Cause this particular specimen I just dig the absolute sh*t out of. Sci-Fi and thrash guitar covereth a multitude of sins, I guess.

I picked Recharging the Void as favorite track, but really you should listen to this one all the way through. Favorite track: Recharging the Void.
    Andrew thumbnail
Andrew to say I'm incredibly impressed with this record is a massive understatement. love the flow of it too. amazing job, well done.

Tar’d and death metal’d Turned my brain to shit, slapped my momma, and took my lunch money! ToV slays as always.
    sonicsludge77 thumbnail
sonicsludge77 A definite change of pace for a band that has carved a path as death-doom veterans. Incorporating keys and more progressive elements were nice addition to an already stellar sound. Scaling down to a 4pc has not prevented Temple of Void from crafting a bigger, more dynamic sound. One of my favorite releases this year so far. Favorite track: Thy Mountain Eternal.
    Funeral Fog thumbnail

    Bart thumbnail
Bart The mixture of unbridled anger and pure desperation just oozes from this entire album. Black metal which does play with some hardcore elements, but not enough to put off even the purists. Post-black metal without being too emo. 2026 has been a top tier year for music, and this is easily near the top for me. Favorite track: Famler i hatet.
    Sean thumbnail
Sean Phew! Heavy AF, tight AF, catchy AF, and dynamic AF. Well-produced, too! The record’s energy and quality musicianship remind me of Feversea’s 2025 album, Man Under Erasure (another Oslo band!). It is only April, but i will find it hard to believe if this isn’t still a top 10 2026 album for me come winter solstice.
    Luke thumbnail
Luke This is not quite a straight-down-the-line black metal album. But it’s not far off one. It opens gently before becoming harsh and abrasive, with a near-constant flurry of growls and blast beats for the duration. It is, fundamentally, a TRVE NORWEGIAN BLACK METAL record. But Rosa Faenskap are keen to draw a sharp distinction – “declare war” in their words – between themselves and the typical peddlers of such sounds. This is an explicitly queer, “patricidal” project, biting the had that feeds it.

    Frosty Bear thumbnail
Frosty Bear What an absolutely gorgeous, amazing album. Beautiful and emotionally heavy while being uplifting. Favorite track: Les fleurs de l’exil.
    Drew Music thumbnail
Drew Music Genuinely atmospheric, top notch post-black metal without a weak or wasted moment to be heard. Immersive, crushing and somehow also inspiring, straight to the top of the AotY contender list. Favorite track: Aux bras des vagues & des vomissures.
    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
