9RnK7 Gorgeous and moving, this album fills a musical void in my collection that I didn't know existed. With lyrics that speak about the human condition and instrumentals that have a medieval flair, this has become my new musical addiction 😁 Not a single note is wasted here Favorite track: Children of the Empire.
    baudelagon thumbnail
baudelagon Un album peut-être un peu trop homogène, qui m'a beaucoup moins séduit que le précédent. Mais toujours cette voix au grain agréable. 3/5

veenstar Stunningly beautiful. This is a masterpiece of control and melodic elegance. It takes its time, and builds in intensity. Favorite track: It's Not Just Me, It's Everybody.

    Arktos Serda thumbnail
Arktos Serda very cool album, balkanize-you sounds like loneliness in audio form Favorite track: Non Mollare.
    GodIsChad thumbnail
GodIsChad This album was my entry-point into Tim's work, and perhaps still my favorite. The title and artwork initially drew me into this little world, sounds that go from tangible and almost striking to ethereal and dreamlike, making time itself almost warp. Hecker should be known as a top-teir modern artist, as far as I'm concerned. Favorite track: Incurably Optimistic!.
    Dreamer thumbnail
Dreamer I love this sound, you must play it very loud. It will reset your brain. My favorite album from the master. Favorite track: Balkanize-You.

    unruh2525 thumbnail
unruh2525 I think this is a very catchy and appealing album. I don't think it's 'challenging' in the sense it's an ordeal to listen to. To my ears it's not at all. But thanks to artists like Dilloway 'catchy' and 'appealing' don't mean what they used to. Favorite track: Born In A Maze.
    Levrikon thumbnail
Levrikon The "sequel" to the amazing Modern Jester is actually a very different album. Whereas that record was buzzing with unfettered ideas, The Gag File is very intentionally a work of repetition, where loops repeat until they ingrain themselves in your skull. Favorite track: Switch.

gods church baseball bat to the kneecaps of the hippocampus - teeth shattering, deep tissue massage. top 10 noise album of all time. Favorite track: Karaoke With Cal.

    Levrikon thumbnail
Levrikon Two mid '90s records from Unwound that were the absolute height of their metallic noise. If Sonic Youth were less contemporary classical and more punk rock, they could have put out albums like this. The fact that Unwound aren't mentioned in the same breath as SY, Fugazi, etc is a crime. Favorite track: Message Received.

realcascadexiv Deafheaven’s most heavy, black metal song. I love this band but I wouldn’t mind a whole album in this style.

    Tristan Louth-Robins thumbnail
Tristan Louth-Robins Astonishing. One of the most accomplished works he's done..and that's saying something. The whole work feels like drifting in and out of REM sleep. The passage with the deft layering of footsteps/space..remarkable. Everywhere else, the influence of Ferrari, Paremgiani, et. al abounds. Anyone serious about sound design and electroacoustic composition needs to hear this (in high resolution!)
    alain.proust thumbnail
alain.proust With the entanglement and interaction of noise and musical tone, we seem to have traveled through the jungle infested by ghosts, and witnessed a new universe being reborn in this strange chaos and harmony. Through this recording, Jim O’Rourke reconstructed the order of sound in a sense.

    Ryan Nicol thumbnail
Ryan Nicol Leaves Turn Inside You is an amalgamation of all Unwound's previous works but through a more mature and refined lens. Leaves Turn Inside You, as the title suggests is an autumnal album - damp, musty, grey but the beauty of it lies in the numerous shades of grey created by the music and images and emotions it evokes. Favorite track: Below the Salt.
    Levrikon thumbnail
Levrikon Unwound's last two albums find them transitioning from a thrashy experimental hardcore band to a trippy, somewhat psychedelic indie rock outfit. The production is stretched way, way out which gives the songs tremendous room to breathe. Amazing stuff. Favorite track: Below the Salt.
