coreyprather My favorite Wolf and Raven album. Really captures the feel of 80s/early 90s shoot em up games espec great Genesis ones to me like Burning Force, MUSHA, Gaiares, Zero Wing. Always a soft spot in my heart for anything related to or evocative of that era of gaming and anime. Really a near perfect synthwave album, and Sakura Shore stands out as a special cute change of pace, maybe evoking Twinkle Tale, Magical Kids Doropie or the first Cotton arcade/PC Engine game. Super solid! Favorite track: Sakura Shore.

pghm More from the same tree. But will I pick more delicious fruits from that tree? Of course I will! Favorite track: Speed Dreamin.
    VUKARI thumbnail
VUKARI Not my typical taste in metal but awesome nonetheless! Synthwave and progressive rock/metal come together nicely with great songwriting and great riffs to banish your cares far away. This is feel good music to groove to. Favorite track: Aurora.

  2. Legend EP (Deluxe Edition)
    by Magic Sword
    supported by
    tim_the_curator thumbnail
tim_the_curator A tour de force that slows down in the last third, then picks up in an incredible finale by The Toxic Avenger. Uprising might be one of Magic Sword’s best tracks ever. Explosive, dark, mythic synthwave; these guys are doing something no one else knows how to right now. Favorite track: The Curse (The Toxic Avenger Remix).
    dontdropjohnny thumbnail
dontdropjohnny Imagine a laser show to this song. Favorite track: Uprising.

    Cyber Djin thumbnail
Cyber Djin Very unique band and reminds me the fucking good show on 22 Oct 2022, Sedel Club, Lucerne. Favorite track: A New Quest.
    tim_the_curator thumbnail
tim_the_curator Magic Sword keeps getting better and more mature. The first half (Side A) comes to an absolutely climactic finish in "Shores of Oblivion," but the second half (Side B) feels a little filler-y and less focused, relying too often on fadeouts when decisive endings would've strengthened each piece.

Still earns a recommendation, these guys are doing titantic work in the synthwave scene, but I look forward to their work maturing even further (or escaping any pressure to fill out LP durations). Favorite track: Empress.
    Hexilver thumbnail
Hexilver I first saw these guys live before I heard much of their music, and let me tell you, hearing the tracks from this album performed live without knowing them was mind-blowing. Listening to this full album afterwards blew me away again! The synths and soundscapes just transport you to another world entirely. Favorite track: A New Quest.

    by Magic Sword

    Sprenzee thumbnail
Sprenzee Every song packs a punch, this album has been on my regular rotation lately. It has a great uplifting sparkly opener with Side Quest, and closes out with more hardcore tracks like Reckoning and Dead Serious. I saw Magic Sword live not too long ago and they played a bunch of these songs and it's stellar to hear these songs live. Listen loud and smite the darkness. Favorite track: Reckoning.
    palehorse666 thumbnail
palehorse666 high fantasy synthwave at its finest, and it's a B-Side album for shit's sake. Favorite track: Dead Serious.

moyennemusfan picked this up after seeing them live in denver! had always been a fan but this just put them at the top of my list Favorite track: In The Face Of Evil.
    tim_the_curator thumbnail
tim_the_curator An INSANELY good debut into a world of fantasy synthwave. Massive, diverse, and fantastic (in the truest sense of the term). From huge, booming jams like "The Way Home" to quieter respites like "Memories in Shadow," Magic Sword show off range, narrative, and high technical skill in a stunning album worth hearing on vinyl. Warriors all. Favorite track: Infinite.
    SiriusCat thumbnail
SiriusCat This is a fantastic album, been listening to it for years and finally got the vinyl. It is the white vinyl version not black fyi, so awesome. See them live if you can!

Cyber Djin What an artistic slap in the face each time! Some songs were performed during the concert. Favorite track: Reborn.
    The Traveler thumbnail
The Traveler Awakening is Pt. 2 of Vol. 2 from Magic Sword, and here they really find their stride. Synthwave meets Metal across 4-on-the-floor dance beats - the perfect soundtrack to slay zombie-unicorns from the back of your laser-shooting dinosaur. Favorite track: Reborn.
    tim_the_curator thumbnail
tim_the_curator What a goddamn awesome vinyl. They get downright funky in this one—the Magic Sword has never been so groovy. Then, in “Reborn” and “Colossus,” they reassert their identity as the premiere Epic Synthwave Group of the 21st Century. You’ve gotta hear this, peeps. Favorite track: Lady Of Light.

bigwizardenergy If there was a "Lo-Fi Chill Beats to Study To" for purging the streets of wickedness and evil, this would be it. Favorite track: Sewer Shark.
    Thygrrr thumbnail
Thygrrr A bombastic, eclectic midtempo/cyberpunk/synthwave album. Lots of goodies here, clean mixes, crisp beats and synths, the occasional lo-fi ambient samples mixed in for extra flavour and immersion.

Not just the opener track's name emphasizes the video game influences that can be heard throughout, without ever being obnoxious or simplistic.

The tracks each work great on their own as well as in the context of the whole album.

Excellent pacing and absolutely worth a buy! Favorite track: BioMech Assault Rider.
    Eliot thumbnail
Eliot Woah. It's like this album came out of a rift in time. There's too much to unpack in one little blurb, but give the intro video a couple minutes of your time. EDGE feels like the soundtrack in my head to every battle and storyline I used to make up for my action figures. Full of personality, loud, genre-bending, danceable, great beats -- should be an instant slam pick for anyone. Favorite track: Terror Influx (feat. Aubrey Hodges).

    bangle_western thumbnail
bangle_western It's just amazing work Favorite track: Nightlife.
    Eliot thumbnail
Eliot The first 3 tracks alone will make this one of your favorite synth albums. You can *hear* the story in Payback, but it isn't your typical concept album - you can dance to it, drive with it, and individual songs sound amazing even outside the context of the rest of the album. Listen with headphones, and you'll hear layers and layers of sounds that all sound perfect together. Favorite track: Nightlife.
    El Tato thumbnail
El Tato Bit of everything in here. From the terrifying to the downright mental (Devils Due) bangers.

If you're a fan of Street Cleaner, you'll be loving this.

The music tells a story that isn't written anywhere so well, that you start to create the story within your own mind whilst listening to the music.

What a talent. Favorite track: Grim Victory.
