Bleedin' Guts Mikey Dogshit DR5 remaster. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
    necromanticdinner thumbnail
necromanticdinner a late 90s brutal death metal classic given new life with a beefy, great sounding remaster and some sick new artwork. this reissue is the perfect reason to check this album out, whether its for the first time or a much-deserved revisit. Favorite track: Vae Victus (Prayer for the Vanquished).

Brett (Lascaille's Shroud / Soulmass) A great discovery this year, one worth checking out. Favorite track: Worshipping Falsehood.

bmurator Doom / Death Metal from Spain. Great music & vocals! The production could be a little clearer but... :) Recommended!

X Wild Alaskan Salmonella X thumbnail
X Wild Alaskan Salmonella X Generally not a fan of tech death and further disillusioned by recent releases, Xenosis brings the goods in a weighty and earwormy way. Favorite track: Spore Whore.
    Caizoe thumbnail
Caizoe Excellent groove and outstanding production, enriched by an extra layer of complexity that makes the music both visceral and cerebral. Favorite track: Rapid Metamorphosis.
    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X Brain-melting, but not stoopid. So many groovy breakdowns, mind-altering time signatures & various dissonant space/time anomalies, you just gotta love it.

PS — The vocalist 🔥🔥🔥 Favorite track: Spore Whore.

    by SHRINE OF DENIAL

    saori_ne thumbnail
saori_ne Their sound thrives on the collision of freezing black metal and crushing death metal, moving seamlessly from lightning blast beats to lyrical slow tempos. Reflecting their Turkish soil, they weave subtle oriental inflections into sharp, technical arrangements. Clocking in at 31 minutes, they do not merely unleash raw destruction, but govern it with high intelligence. For fans of Dead Congregation or Emperor, bu albüm, 2025'in en dikkat çekici metal eserlerinden biridir.
    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X Not sure why I stupidly passed this up when it came out, as I’m a huge fan of hefty Turkish black/death acts like Diabolizer and Serpent of Old, and this fits nicely under that general umbrella. Love the husky, indefatigable vocals, the absolutely seamless shifts between various black/death elements, and also the subtle Middle Eastern(ish) melodic flourishes that occasionally pop up (see the opener for a great example of this). All in all, a really satisfying and enjoyable listen! Favorite track: Pillars Of Ice.
    positronicping thumbnail
positronicping Shrine of Denial tread an intoxicating line between melodic and dissonant with this magnificent dose of blackened death metal. Nabi's vocals sound like a pack of rabid hounds. I'm with @acaDamien, the drums and guitars absolutely rip. Favorite track: A Sanctuary In The Depths Of The Realms.

BirdOfHermes83 Thanks for this one! Hell of a record. Favorite track: He Who Dwells In Grime.
    doive thumbnail
doive First of all, I don't think this relates to the eponym Alien movie much, at least not directly. Secondly Xenobiotic altogether hammers and slays sound wise! The production is almost too clean for this type of deathcorish music but the writing is top notch and it has so much power .. it's just brilliantly executed and shall remind listeners about DISENTOMB, yet the atmospheric tones here and there make the whole album sound more varied and diversified somehow. It's definitely worth it! Favorite track: Prometheus II: Genesis.
    Kylmmys thumbnail
Kylmmys Pure anger, aggression and gore. You can feel the songs crawling into you. Love it!
Favorite track: He Who Dwells In Grime.

    deadfriday69 thumbnail
deadfriday69 This album rips. After reading Jack Owen's comment that the first half of the album is a speedier and more aggressive death metal style while the second half is more groove-laden, I understood why the first half is so different from the second. The production is immaculate, and I can't get enough of the drum sound; Marco is a beast, love his drum fills. I hope they stick with this sound! Favorite track: Destroyed Remains.
    Erik Leviathan thumbnail
Erik Leviathan Long live Six Feet Under. This album is sick all the way through. I am glad I bought this record \m/ Favorite track: Mister Blood and Guts.
    fyeahmetal thumbnail
fyeahmetal Holy hell, this is great. The post-Torment lineup has only gotten stronger over time, yielding this record that evokes the classic early records. No eees, no bs classic rock covers, just skillful, catchy songwriting with memorable leads and choruses (who knew "Mutilated Corpse in the Woods" could be so fun to song along to), and a beautifully organic production where the drums sound like drums. No over-compressed, slick Nuclear Blast-type sound here! This is an AOTY contender. Favorite track: Mind Hell.
    cmdfvfan thumbnail
cmdfvfan This was a great surprise. Probably the best SFU released in about a decade. A dry open mix, tons of oldschool groove and speed mixed together to make a damn fine listen. Chris's vox are better than they've been for a long time and the huge, open riffy sections give me Haunted and Warpath vibes and Obituary. Some good Florida death metal. i'm here for it! Favorite track: Wrath and Terror Takes Command.

Lorenzo Chunky modern death metal bringing flashes of tech death or prog death (and maybe even a smidgen of groove) into their relentless attack. Each track is tightly wound with intricate instrumentation, best shown in the guitars and drums, before bursting with crushing intensity.

Justin Wittenmeier Draconian never disappoints. I love all their albums, including the ones without Lisa, but I'm so glad she returned to the fold. Gothic doom is a tried and true formula but it never gets old especially when the old guard keep putting out masterful albums Favorite track: I Gave You Wings.
    nachthumor_x thumbnail
nachthumor_x Awesome athmospheric dark album Favourite Tracks: "lethe" and "I welcome thy arrow"
    soulsatzero thumbnail
soulsatzero What an absolute masterpiece of melancholic death/doom! One of Draconian's best releases so far, and a strong contender for AOTY! Stunning performances by all musicians involved, especially Lisa and Anders, combined with a perfect, crystal clear, yet very organic production. Very difficult indeed to pick a favourite track since all of them are great. And now I am going to hit the 'repeat' button ... again. Favorite track: Misanthrope River.
