  1. Wind Dynamic Organ, Deviations
    by Taylor Deupree & Zimoun
    supported by
    Finn of Tomland thumbnail
Finn of Tomland I think that it's great that Taylor Deupree and Zimoun has joined forces and together explored and experimented with the sound and the possibility of the sound that the WDO produces on this total gem of an album because it adds a further sonic dimension to this instrument and what actually can be done with it.
And when 2 sonic maestros like these are at work you get this fantastic release with total aural bliss in 6 parts.
    A must have.

guy peeters nice to hear a fine ambient piece !
    Rays of wisdom thumbnail
Rays of wisdom I really love when ambient music doesn't have such an explicit melody but just gives you an atmosphere, without forcing you to vibe to it. Favorite track: Deviation I.

⧪ ⁿ* ⧻ ⧴ The fact that these two albums, both based on the Wind Dynamic Organ, are being released simultaneously yet independently of each other is very interesting. They somehow belong together, but function as independent works. Zimoun's solo album is very pure and direct, while these works here in collaboration with Taylor Deupree delve microscopically into the depths of the organ sounds and transport us into fascinating, vast soundscapes. Stunning works! Favorite track: Deviation I.

good_._sunset A curio cabinet filled with miniatures, some impossibly tiny and intricate mechanisms, some unpolished gems, some lockets you open and find a whole world inside. Taste, care, expert sound design. Favorite track: 2-8-25.

onetr A strong showing in minimalist classical in its own right, made even more interesting by the fact that this is Pharaoh Sanders' last appearance in music ever.

Side B kicks off with an incredible tear-jerker sequence, hence I put Mov. #6 as my favorite track! :) Favorite track: Movement 6.
    Ghuughra thumbnail
Ghuughra I know pundits like to throw around terms like 'breathtaking' and 'transcendent' with all the restraint of a toddler with a can of silly string, but d*mn if I can think of a more fitting set of adjectives.

Don't think I've ever heard anything quite like this. Pharaoh is the type of virtuoso that doesn't need to blow you out with tech to leave you speechless. Got me feeling emotions n sh*t. Favorite track: Movement 7.
    luixcampox thumbnail
luixcampox Masterpiece! .. complex and subtle. Something holds everything togheter, stable, but also there is always change and movement.

Can't imagine how precise musicians must have been, and what a state of focus required to perform this whole sound trip.

Dionysus Virus I really liked the last piece best of all. The strings, I love strings, the grandness, atmosphere and emotion that they convey. It felt a little like a role playing game and a lullaby. I swear I heard a few notes from a popular old lullaby. 💜🖤💙 Favorite track: Lullaby in Space.

    mysticwolf75 thumbnail
mysticwolf75 When this first came out, I thought Robert should have won some kind of special award for making the longest album ever. (Of course now, with digital music, you can make albums infinitely longer). But this was among the first DVDs I got back in 2001, when I got my first DVD player. I slept to it many times (only the jungle critters in the middle part wake me up sometimes). Glad to have the digital added to my collection now.
