bmurator Finnish Raw Black Metal. A one man, O.J / Anleifr, project. Another impressive one! This is very powerful & kicked me into shape from the first note. Plus it is a debut EP & it bodes extremely well for the future & I look forward to it! What would be really nice is a full length next... :) No faves! Thanks Escafismo! Highly recommended!!!
    acaDamien thumbnail
acaDamien I got a copy of this through getmusic.fm. This is really rather nice. Awesome guitar work, chilling vocals. "...And so the River has Flown and the Times Passed" is so incredibly pretty as well. Favorite track: Towards Death We Shall Ride.
    Sean TPLTR thumbnail
Sean TPLTR Short and sweet! Love the cover art as well as the black metal contained within. Mid-paced with some blast beats and variety thrown in. Just the way I like my black metal. The CD even included a personalized note. Look forward to hearing more in the future. Cheers! Favorite track: Revontulien Valaisemana Yönä.

vibrationsofdoom It was called ambient music back in the day. Dungeon Synth is the new term for it. Amazingly, this is varied and multi-structured, and features more rich layers than just plonk-plonk-plonk notes on a lone keyboard. You can really get into the majestic atmospheres and rich colorful landscapes... Vibrations Of Doom Magazine/DOOM Radio highly supports!!
    Wallachian Throne thumbnail
Wallachian Throne I'm rarely left with a good impression by contemporary DS but this debut by the Wanderer is indeed an instant classic. Honestly, I avoid even calling it DS, given it has a very neo-medieval, dark folk feeling to it through out the album. The whole album appears as a cinematic trip through a mystical land. The added vocals come out as impactful and meaningful, although the delivery resembles the overused one of Wardruna and Heilung. Despite this, the overall compositions are highly unique! Favorite track: A Hillside Confrontation.
    Graf thumbnail
Graf This is definitely one of my favorite releases of the year! An atmospheric experience of grand and beautiful sound design. Simply one of the best from this year so far! Up there with Raiders of the moonsea! Favorite track: Dawn In The Forest.
    An Goblin thumbnail
An Goblin good fantasy music: moments of tension, calm, and release, and exploration of different moods and textures.

    Andrew Wukusick thumbnail
Andrew Wukusick I've listened to this entire album back to back an ungodly amount of times since it released 4 days ago. It's been the soundtrack to everything I do. It's very quickly becoming one of my too favorite Dungeon Synth albums of all time, and I don't take that lightly. I've been into DS for over a decade and have amassed a horde of DS cassettes and digital albums. BTW, if you ever release this on cassette I will buy it in a heartbeat. Favorite track: A Northerly Wind Blows.

johnly93 Listening to this album feels the same way as playing Elder Scrolls games as a teen. Amazing range from happy inn music to more melancholic, subtler songs. Favorite track: Dance of the Rain Folk.
    Robert Paulovic thumbnail
Robert Paulovic Great dungeon synth / fantasy synth. Definitely worth to support it if you are fans of Fief / DIM or Descort. More of your music please.

Obsidian One This remaster of 'Moon Behind the Storm' is a big deal — the production, the quality, the sheer power. They've made noticeable musical changes too: the build-up from 2:24 to 3:05, and the double-bass drumming that follows has a deeper sound, more death metal-like. And the fresh synths and female choir-style vocals create an epic and ferocious atmosphere. Kudos to Blood Stained Dusk for bringing back to life one of my more memorable tracks from times before. Favorite track: Moon Behind The Storm.

Obsidian One I discovered this album way back, but kind of forgot about it. This has great atmosphere, with a black metal purity to it enhanced by keyboards, creating a sound both sad and celestial. The emotive riffs and icy-cold drum blasts express melancholy, but also solace. The momentum building from 2:34 of 'Moon Behind the Storm', and the transition at 3:17 — yes! 'Funeral of Lamentation' is equally evocative, and the intro to 'Sanguinas Path' is masterful artistry. An underappreciated album.
