Gleanie Out of every track listing in the Henge discography, this one makes the least sense. Other than that, this is a pretty cool EP!
The space cowboy energy is strong on here, the songs are fun, and there are some great textures all over it.
The Great Venusian Apocalypse is an absolute beast, it's my favorite Henge song, and it's easily the best-sounding one. Its production sounds almost industrial, it's super dark, and thick, and sharp, and I love it. Favorite track: The Great Venusian Apocalypse.

nob2607 A mishmash of seemingly contradictory genres, Henge not only somehow make it work, but every track is amazingly danceable and fun.

The Great Venusian Apocalypse is an absolute banger but please do not applaud: It is very insensitive to cheer at the destruction of an entire planet, especially when the sole survivor is present. Favorite track: The Great Venusian Apocalypse.

Gleanie My favorite Henge album. This one has it all: zany pop-prog, sci-fi chiptune, pretty psychedelia, pitch-shifted alien rapping, space cowboy balladry... Basically the blueprint of all the things they would explore on their subsequent three albums, but they were already perfected here. This is also one of the two Henge releases that actually flow well as album-experiences. The space-afrobeat outro is a bit of an outlier, but it works perfectly, and it's also my favorite track on here. Favorite track: Demilitarise.

Gleanie I think this is Henge at their most focused and polished. The album structure is clear and compelling, the distribution of cartoonishness/chiptune and spacy psychedelia across the runtime feels perfect, and even the songs themselves feel more straightforward than before, without giving up any of their complexity, zaniness, or creativity.
Really Slingshot is the only song that feels like a standalone pop tune, everything else seems to serve the overall album experience - and they do it well! Favorite track: Ascending.

PIDGE This album seems a little more grounded than previous albums. Less goofy and more interesting space rock. I’m a fan if they keep this up. Similar to Tong. Favorite track: Hypersleep.

Gleanie This was the first Henge album I've heard, and it was a surprisingly easy listen for how nonsensical the track order is, and how much is happening on each individual song.
This is the musical equivalent of eating sweets for lunch.
The first seven tracks are the closest they've ever come to making straight-up novelty music, while the last three feel like a semi-unrelated psychedelic journey.
The song Tardigrades lives up to its subject matter. Favorite track: Altered State.
