palehorse666 on the darker side of things, this EP is a sensual, pulse pounding adventure into the night. Favorite track: Ascent of the blessed.
    SecretCatPolicy thumbnail
SecretCatPolicy Why aren't there more theremins in synthwave? For such a movie-influenced, atmosphere-creating genre, most musicians in the genre are really missing a trick. Favorite track: Ascent of the blessed.
    kmxexii thumbnail
kmxexii After Death is full of odd contrasts of light and dark and filled with a manic energy. "Ascent" walks a weird line between the soaring, gorgeous guitar and a cool, dark section with a wicked-ass guitar riff accented by a theremin-like synth. "Still Pain" begins spookily but gains an outrun pulse, a disco beat, and sounds introspective in spite of the anthemic guitar chords. "Resurrection"'s sucker punch is an almost ambient track dominated with the sound of war, speaking of life, fear, and pain. Favorite track: Ascent of the blessed.

RETRORAY Wow, this album just blew me away! The production is on a whole other level, and even as a long time fan I wasn't prepared for where it would take me. Just phenomenal from beginning to end. I've had it on repeat and don't intend on stopping for a while. Favorite track: Bleed the Skies.

    Nicholas Kent thumbnail
Nicholas Kent After my initial dozen or so listens (😬), my only real gripe is that the record feels too short... I always want more haha. This is noticeably different in some ways for this band, but I am totally cool with that - they've had a fairly consistent sound for a long time so mixing it up a bit is a good thing, to me. I think the only tracks I haven't been able to fully get into so far are The Air's on Fire & Rising Skyline (never been a huge fan of guest vocalists). The title track is 🤤🤤🤤. Favorite track: A Way Down.
    indegoraven thumbnail
indegoraven Failure has once again delivered an album that is totally Failure but also different than anything they’ve done previously. This album is a nod to the 80s, and an embrace of modern sound. Failure is a rare band. To break up and then return to give us music that just as good (if not better) than their previous releases is something I do not take for granted. When I think about Failure, I don’t think about what they’ve done, but what they can (and hopefully will) do in the future! Favorite track: Solid State.
