    albinobone thumbnail
albinobone A string section warms up with John Adams or Phillip Glass on their minds in an empty theatre two hundred years ago. A forlorn piano remembers something in an ancient, long-forgotten hotel lobby. Somebody plays standup bass in the dark, in a sunken vessel at the bottom of the ocean. An orchestra scores a desperate, wintery Scandinavian shoreline for no-one to hear. There's something hopeful in desolate and unheard things, because they can be beautiful without human commentary.
    Favorite track: Abandon.
    magoski thumbnail
    magoski The drone carries me
    gently down the stream
    and then ... something happens
it was happeding all the time
tried not to notice it not to lt it rule my mind, but now I can't stop it. I am it's
    I can't say it.
    I won't say it.
    rather
    I'll wait.
I'll wait for the trumpets with you
Together we will stand in the Sun
    and something happens
I see the World around me
    maybe for the first time
If we look for the good
    we will find good.
If we look for the good
    we will find the good.

    lionvalley thumbnail
lionvalley The rave response by critics I respect led me to put some work into absorbing this album, which didn't take at first, and which is as blurred and murky as the cover image. There is too much going on under the surface to relegate it to background listening, where it all dissipates into just a pretty blur. Yet paying attention leaves me feeling like when I scramble for a pen to record a dream before it fades. So I've wound up listening to this a lot. Favorite track: Atlas.

  2. World Music
    by Ahnnu
    supported by
    Waldo Jeffers thumbnail
Waldo Jeffers Compared to almost all of his previous releases, Ahnnu adopts a more restrained, subtle approach on World Music. By emphasising and carefully crafting the space in which the beats are placed, he explores their complementary nature more than usual. The result is a consistent, atmospheric, organic, well-thought-out album.

    Favourite track: Relative Research
    TAUPE 50 thumbnail
TAUPE 50 Probably the best album from Ahnnu.
