A forceful and insistent piece with absolute command of its sonic niche, umbilical is the best Thou release so far. thematically consistent and striking balance between moshy and doomy, once you get past the slightly draggy first track the record opens up into a massively fun and compelling experience.    helpfulbandit This was the first BoC album I heard more than a decade ago. it still resonates, still aged very well and is also incredibly nostalgic for me. I remember listening to this for the first time in my cousin's house in Belgium when I came to visit. Impossible for me to pick a favorite track. They all feel so powerful and "correct."

   

   pacu9 Beautiful, but dark. It's like they knew what was coming in the '20s Favorite track: Sundown.

   

   Obsidian One This was such an anticipated release for me, yet I was caught off guard by how dark it sounded compared to their previous works. At first, there was a sense of disappointment, but as is the case with all their releases, the music takes time to settle. Now, it stands alongside their other great albums: The Campfire Headphase, Geogaddi, and Music Has the Right to Children. The question we all wonder: will they ever release another album? We can only hope. Greatest experimental ambient duo ever.
