neobits Without a doubt the song that gives the title to the album! Was blown away with this majestic comeback, love you guys \m/ erittäin hyvä!! Favorite track: Cosmic World Mother.
    sashavonkarl74 thumbnail
sashavonkarl74 Once more, I walk "back in time", I first discovered A.O with their latest release, and then decided to listen and get this release. Relieved to find out that this one is less classic BM but more a mix between Dimmu and more symphonic BM and the Shilmagoghnar trilogy. The speed of many tracks is pure armageddon!! Keyboard and electro soft touch gives it a different vibe, much appreciated!!! Favorite track: Vigilance and Atrophy.
    slvt_avs_nord thumbnail
slvt_avs_nord One of those albums that starts strong and then literally gets stronger and stronger EVERY FUCKING SONG. It's only been two years, but I feel like this is a masterpiece and probably their best. Favorite track: Cosmic World Mother.

    sashavonkarl74 thumbnail
sashavonkarl74 When I heard the opener I had a big WTF moment, but then again, when I was a teen I was also into techno and electronica, so... :) yeah, well... While this is not my favourite album of ...And Oceans, it does have a few tracks that got me to obsessive repeat level. "Towards the Absence of Light" and "Förnyelse i Tre Akter" are my favourites. Favorite track: Förnyelse i Tre Akter.
    Padre Adamo thumbnail
Padre Adamo This album is incredible. I enjoyed the industrial era of A.M.G.OD. and Cypher. great albums. This album blends their entire discography perfectly. It is a reformation to their style and everything they have tried to do with absolutely pristine balance.

The second track even has pagan black metal vibes. The whole album gives me chills. it doesn't happen often. Amazing work fellas. Favorite track: Förnyelse i Tre Akter.
    allthegoodnamesgone thumbnail
allthegoodnamesgone Incredible soundscapes blasting you in new dimensions! Unbelievable album! 10/10 Favorite track: I Am Coin, I Am Two.

  4. House of the Black Geminus
    by Akhlys
    supported by
    we-aim-to-please thumbnail
we-aim-to-please House of The Black Geminus is where dreams go to die; where every haunting drum beat or endless nauseating riff descends one further and further into a pit of no return. Each song feels claustrophobic and harrowing; A journey of madness and chaos, entropy and despair, and the vocals are the very hellish shrieks of the damned, wailing for no way out of The House of The Black Geminus.

Won't you stay? Favorite track: Sister Silence, Brother Sleep.
    Obsidian One thumbnail
Obsidian One This latest release is especially fierce, a ferocious blend of black metal and industrial that has only grown on me. It may even surpass Melinoë, no easy feat. 'The Mask of Night-Speaking' builds to a cataclysmic crescendo, erupting into a fury of the blackest kind at 6:00, as if the entire track was meant for that one moment — a true Akhlys signature. 'Eye of the Daemon' is equally powerful, steeped in nightmare-inspired soundscapes, with 1:54 also showcasing the raw force of this dark art.
    St. DomBz thumbnail
St. DomBz This album is a wonderfully cryptic and terrifying journey through the darkness of the self. Favorite track: Sister Silence, Brother Sleep.

  5. Cutting the Throat of God
    by Ulcerate
    supported by
    JoelTheDoubleV thumbnail
JoelTheDoubleV This is for me the best metal album of 2024, and I'd even venture to say one of the best of the decade. First, there was a feeling of awe at the immense complexity of their music, while simultaneously processing all the emotions evoked by such a tremendous work. This is much more than technical skill and instrumental prowess; it's pure feeling and emotion and pierces the soul every time. These guys managed to create a unique musical language that places them in a world inhabited solely by them. Favorite track: Further Opening the Wounds.
    adam thumbnail
adam Ulcerate created their unique world, absolutely beyond anything else that I heard.

    Jesus Popcornius M o n u m e n t a l
Admittedly Ulcerate's music projects a very specific flavour - and omits countless others - focusing on perfecting the marrow of their dramaturgical message towards humanity... Nonetheless, in my opinion: Cutting the Throat of God should be thoroughly studied by future Music & Art Historians, and let's not exaggerate by comparing or analyzing - however - I believe that some of you can instinctively sense it.. Ulcerate have reached an unforeseen peak.. haven't they? Favorite track: Further Opening the Wounds.

Michael Jennings Greta Link FTW. So haunting. Favorite track: Lady Moon (ft. Greta Link).
    Jen Tyle thumbnail
Jen Tyle Banger album. I also got this on vinyl from MOTV shop, the pressing is amazing! Favorite track: Mors Ultima Ratio.
    doive thumbnail
doive I'm so thrilled by this album, it has such a darkened vibe overall, it always was in the air with Perturbator but this time it's slightly more acute and I really can't say I disapprove of it in any way whatsoever. Excellent darkwave right here, you know what to do.. Favorite track: Age of Aquarius (ft. Alcest).

    Dagger Dragger Dagger Dragger

    onsidefox thumbnail
onsidefox This album, much like the rest of Castle Rat's discography, captures the essence of going on an adventure through a wasted fantasy world. The instrumentals and the vocals collide in a way that sells the feeling of adventure beautifully. Favorite track: Red Sands.
    Trollfiend thumbnail
Trollfiend A perfect fusion of all the best nostalgia I have for fantasy and metal, and I appreciate their commitment to the mythos they've created. Favorite track: Cry For Me.

    by Ulcerate
    featured track 00:00/00:00
The Lifeless Advance The Lifeless Advance
    supported by
    JoelTheDoubleV thumbnail
JoelTheDoubleV Dark, shadowy, and technical. An album that gives the false impression that Ulcerate couldn't possibly take another leap forward, and for this reason, it's the perfect prelude to what CTTOG would become. It's like a force that attracts and devours everything in its path, sometimes restrained and melancholic, but with a power that overwhelms. One of Ulcerate's best works to date. Favorite track: Drawn Into the Next Void.
    Alexander Pugachev thumbnail
Alexander Pugachev A monumental album (as most of theirs). It's hard to pinpoint a single track because they all flow into each other, which is also a trademark of Ulcerate. Favorite track: Visceral Ends.
    dominic38 thumbnail
dominic38 this is so grim sounding. sell that first album too. i'd buy it for sure

    sashavonkarl74 thumbnail
sashavonkarl74 Some purists will say that a blend of grapes won't make good wine, and I disagree. Some will say that black metal should be rigidly following the second wave, and I somewhat disagree. Sometimes, rarely I admit, styles can blend so naturally that boundaries disappear, and that is the genius of Aquilus, what they achieved here with this Opus Magnum, is a perfect mix that feels unity, piano, organ, melodies, everything fits together beautifully, distilled to perfection! Favorite track: Latent Thistle.
    Machine Head thumbnail
Machine Head It is so hard now to do something new in black metal but Aquilius has done it. Romantic era classical music blended with black metal. Just captivating Favorite track: The Fawn.
    Sean Vieira thumbnail
Sean Vieira Fantastically beautiful, dark and creepy, all in equal measure. Favorite track: Night Bell.
