    D.S.S. thumbnail
D.S.S. A soul-crushing album of dark fantasy that'll haunt you long after it's concluded. Not for the faint of heart. Favorite track: There's No Place Like Home.

  2. Where the Corpses Sink Forever
    by Carach Angren
    supported by
    Treebaum thumbnail
Treebaum This is where they truly nailed down the large cinematic orchestrations that have become a signature of their style. Wielding black metal with exceptional thematic precision, they breath a remarkable amount of emotion into their narrative characters and environments, painting a grim and convincing picture of the horrors of war. Also, the title of the song is misspelled in Bandcamp!!! Imprint, not impring! Favorite track: Lingering in an Impring Haunting.
    Versakhan Irenis thumbnail
Versakhan Irenis I discovered Carach Angren with Little Hector as a cruel/bitter joke on my then current life situation, but after a few spins I really started to enjoy them and the more I hear the more I like their more than creative ways to transport their stories. Favorite track: Little Hector, What Have You Done?.
    grote_smurf thumbnail
grote_smurf If you love horror stories and symphonic black metal, Carach Angren is yours.

Death Came Through A Phantom Ship and Lammendam are my favourites yet, but also this album is very convincing. Favorite track: These Fields are Lurking (Seven Pairs of Demon Eyes).

  3. Death Came Through a Phantom Ship
    by Carach Angren
    supported by
    Treebaum thumbnail
Treebaum A terrifying portrayal of the legend of the flying dutchman as iconic as that of Spongebob Squarepants. This album gets 10 Leedle Leedle Leedle Lees out of 10 from me. Favorite track: Bloodstains on the Captain's Log.
    Stolen Mongoose thumbnail
Stolen Mongoose I met and saw Carach Angren live in concert @ The Boiler Room, Temecula, California, Circa 11/04/2017
    grote_smurf thumbnail
grote_smurf This concept album handles about Captain van der Decken, a VOC captain whose ego was so fat that he ignored the objections of his crew about the coming storm, this with deadly consequences.
It's too easy to spit out a bunch of jokes about "de VOC-mentaliteit", one of the greatest stupidities ever made by a former Dutch Prime Minister so I won't ;-). A masterpiece from the deepest catacombs of abyss!!! Favorite track: ...And the Consequence Macabre.
    Jaron C Talotta thumbnail
Jaron C Talotta it's probably my favorite album.
it's not their best album, for sure.

Frankly speaking,.... their latest album is best.
a rare thing, after Six albums no less..

yet. the chosen atmosphere here cannot be bested for me.

    the Sea
    the deep dark gnarling depths.
and add a spice of particular memory when I happened upon this particular album. it's done deal.
Van Der Dekken is right behind yous Favorite track: Departure Towards A Nautical Curse.

  5. Dance and Laugh Amongst the Rotten
    by Carach Angren
    supported by
    Abyssius Murkraken thumbnail
Abyssius Murkraken While not as heavy hitting as their previous albums, this album hits highs in its own way and rarely fumbles. The netherland symphonic black metal trio have never released a "bad album" Favorite track: Blood Queen.
    Vaug.Mack thumbnail
Vaug.Mack Absolutely haunting that’s all that needs to be said. Favorite track: Pitch Black Box.

    by Rosa Faenskap
    featured track 00:00/00:00
Klarhet i kaos Klarhet i kaos
    supported by
    Bart thumbnail
Bart The mixture of unbridled anger and pure desperation just oozes from this entire album. Black metal which does play with some hardcore elements, but not enough to put off even the purists. Post-black metal without being too emo. 2026 has been a top tier year for music, and this is easily near the top for me. Favorite track: Famler i hatet.
    Sean thumbnail
Sean Phew! Heavy AF, tight AF, catchy AF, and dynamic AF. Well-produced, too! The record’s energy and quality musicianship remind me of Feversea’s 2025 album, Man Under Erasure (another Oslo band!). It is only April, but i will find it hard to believe if this isn’t still a top 10 2026 album for me come winter solstice.
    Luke thumbnail
Luke This is not quite a straight-down-the-line black metal album. But it’s not far off one. It opens gently before becoming harsh and abrasive, with a near-constant flurry of growls and blast beats for the duration. It is, fundamentally, a TRVE NORWEGIAN BLACK METAL record. But Rosa Faenskap are keen to draw a sharp distinction – “declare war” in their words – between themselves and the typical peddlers of such sounds. This is an explicitly queer, “patricidal” project, biting the had that feeds it.

    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X I so feel this album description, and as a gay/queer man, I’m 💯 down for the patricidal black metal tag. I don’t hear “eyeliner and rainbows” on this record (maybe they save it for their live shows?) and that’s fine by me; this hits RAW and HARD, which is how I like it 😏 Favorite track: Jeg blir til deg.

luddekn This album is amazing from start to finish, tbh not a bad song. Sounds amazing Favorite track: Pure Light Of Mind.
    Abrogated Conformist thumbnail
Abrogated Conformist I’ve been a fan of In Flames since 96’ and I’ve stopped listening to them after “Come Clarity”, but I still have faith in them knowing one day, they’ll make a come back with a heavier album and “Foregone” is that come back album of sorts, it’s a mash up of all that they’ve done and it is a good solid modern melodic death metal album. Favorite track: Foregone Pt. 1.

gebs Not everyone is on board with their streamlined sound, but I've never been dissuaded. Even if the album does feel like Battles Lite, it has more than enough winners to keep the faith. Favorite track: Stay With Me.
