  1. Imminent
    by HLAD
    supported by
Mike / Avant Music News thumbnail
Mike / Avant Music News Imminent evokes a post-apocalyptic world in which broken machines are still awake and partially operational. Hints of warbling melodies accentuate the background droning, while indeterminate mechanical noises haunt each piece. There is little in the way of jagged dynamics, with tension implied more through atmosphere than dramatic contrast.

marsh-p These annual samplers are a great way of finding the albums I want to buy, and finding new artists to listen to.

Velunia Thank you Cryo Chamber 🖤
    somaproxy thumbnail
somaproxy Such an inspiration to sit down and get in touch with my own gear. The best in atmospherics at the present in my opinion.

Bud_e_luv_bomb This, along with the Cryo Chamber Colab are two of the releases I look forward to ever year. I discover new artists with each release.

Alex I do feel it. Favorite track: Exequies of the Lost.
Mike / Avant Music News thumbnail
Mike / Avant Music News Monty Adkins is back as Skrika, his experimental ambient alter ego. Here, he combines a number of different types of elements – synth waves and drones, sequenced runs, processed noises, choral elements, percussion, and a bunch of other acoustic features that are surprisingly difficult to describe.

johnny jaco Good music if you like Sci-Fi movies or the "Blade Runner" movie soundtrack. To me this is good Science Fiction music.
    Retrovex thumbnail
Retrovex People like to listen to drone like ambient or simple chord progression, well PRIMAL had something else in mind, this immesely impressive album gives you a taste of top tier sound design with booming bass and ethereal pads as well as technological scrambles of pure glitchy AWESOMENESS, seriously this is something new and familiar that I've been looking for, I went and bought the physical copy right away I cannot recommend this enough if you're a sound enthusiast this HAS to join your collection!
    0xur thumbnail
0xur Out of this world. I tried putting it on as background music but this album just went and grabbed my full attention. Got completely pulled in. Favorite track: Ultragenetic Research Center.
Mike / Avant Music News thumbnail
Mike / Avant Music News Narcomancer covers a lot of ground. The album’s opening tracks are reminiscent of acousmatic music in the GRM sense, loose structures built from overlapping fragments of sound. Undergirding these complex textures are brooding and dark layers of synth that move slowly with a muted sense of dread.

Ashen Archivist It feels like something big is about to passing by. Very slowly, but incredibly heavy and powerful. Favorite track: Neuronic.
    Radical Dreamer thumbnail
Radical Dreamer As deep as it gets.
    mateti thumbnail
mateti Heavy and raw, exceptional cold hard-tech. Favorite track: Disappear.
    David Loveless thumbnail
David Loveless Alphaxone is one of the OG’s of sinister Dark Ambience and there is no slowing down on his latest effort, ‘Subsynthetic Pulseforms’. Claustrophobic drones pave the way for a desolate, apocalyptic setting and the menacing soundscapes throughout bring on bitter coldness and horrifying dread. Another impressive release by Alphaxone! Favorite track: Voidness.

    Joe Cericola thumbnail
Joe Cericola I chose "Hambabibaal", bc I could only choose just 1 (!), but every track is sensory GOLD! From the oddly-disturbing-on-an-untold-number-of-levels guttural chanting on "Tempest Cults", the first track, all the way to "Cybermystic", the final track, as well as being the title track, this album does so, so much to the mind, as well as the ears, taking us on a journey that, good/bad/indifferent, leaves us forever changed! If you don't already own this album, YOU NEED TO OWN IT! Favorite track: Hambabibaal.

    simoniridium thumbnail
simoniridium Honestly, Simon is the absolute master!
The phrase 'mash-up' doesn't belong here. The artistry and skill on display elevates these musical potions into the stratosphere and then rockets them down to detonate across the dancefloor like some kind of musical Molotov Cocktail!
    Essential!
