Jørgen “Sentinels” is what happens when new bands burn brightly with the old school flame, keeping real Heavy Metal alive while having their own personality and vision. A totally ripping experience that you’d be a fool to miss. www.nattskog.com Favorite track: Unhallowed & Forgotten.
    9RnK7 thumbnail
9RnK7 This has "future classic" written all over it. As a fan of the band this takes their established sound to new heights. Full of ear-worm moments, tasty riffs/basslines, and attitude that makes you want to start a pit. Also perhaps shades of Judas Priest/King Diamond epicness. My last two sentences paired with the album cover should hopefully entice you to check this album out, fans of heavy/speed will be very satisfied. Favorite track: Where There's a Whip (There Is a Way).
    Swietowit11 thumbnail
Swietowit11 Remember the old meme with the butterfly who said to "bring back 80s speed metal"? This was the band that heeded it. I'm waiting for the full album release to listen to any of it, but I'm certain this will find a spot on my year end list. If you're new to this band, just get this. You'll end up getting everything else of theirs after that anyway.

Matten They really knocked it out of the park and into outer space with this one. Favorite track: Stratocumulus Evergaol.
    Nuclear Girl thumbnail
Nuclear Girl Another incredible achievement, and one of the most anticipated metal releases (at least for myself) to come this year. Thankfully, much like Yellow Eyes, the wait has been worth it - Cryptic Shift have only gotten more excessive, more trippy, and more ambitious, and I love them for it! Favorite track: Hyperspace Topography.
    insidethewire thumbnail
insidethewire If Nocturnus and Voivod had a bastard child. And raised it on unhealthy doses of LSD. Stellar musicianship. Can't stop listening to this. So far, right up there with Immolation for AOTY 2026...

Spaceman Si Dobrawa takes the cello, an instrument already capable of everything from deeply sonorous notes to the sweetest highs, and gives it wings. Inspired layering of exquisitely crafted loops and sounds from a fine instrument has created a wonderland of deeply hypnotic music that is waiting to embrace and immerse you like the waters of the Lethe. If you enjoy this, give Jessica Moss' work with the violin a listen, too. Favorite track: Sirens.

    Paul Osborne thumbnail
Paul Osborne A superb listen, that it passes quickly only means you get to enjoy it again, and you will want to. The combination of dark ambient, Polish folk / Japanese flute is inspired. The droning strings often sound like a hurdy-gurdy for that extra sonic witchcraft. Such an immersive album that it seems almost wrong to choose a favourite, but the final track is amazing - taking everything before and amping it up into a darkly beautiful outro. Favorite track: From The Depths.

Kris Faust Immolation is synonymous with consistency, technical prowess, ferocity, and monumental songwriting. Descent is no exception. Real contender for album of the year.
    eManRenaissanc thumbnail
eManRenaissanc My favorite band, still thriving 40 years in. There's no one else like 'em. Just ordered the vinyl and had to buy the BC version too, of course.
    KenshirO thumbnail
KenshirO Crushingly heavy, oppressive and filled with a dark epic sound that many death metal bands could never hope to achieve. Tops even Acts Of God. Fantastic production and some of their best work ever. I recommend listening to it with a pair of Heavys 🎧 on. It will make your testicles explode Favorite track: Attrition.
