I’m into almost all kinds of music, in fact there’s only one genre I simply cannot bear to listen to and that’s Country. It was all I heard as a little kid as my parents were big fans so I guess it’s some kinda rebellious reaction on my part. If I had to pick a favourite genre it would have to to be electronica, which is a term that tells you absolutely everything and virtually nothing!

I love to listen to early versions(demos) of good songs that have already appeared on finished albums, In this case the album from which this song appeared, I do remember and I recall just how much of an impact the album (Melt) had on me and my wife back in 1980. The strongest of Peter's solo albums to date. .

Sid McGinnis" guitar solo is an interesting inclusion on this version. Lyrically it is very different from the final album version and vocally Peter seems a little restrained. It's certainly an interesting listen through and an educational lesson in the evolution of his songs before a finished product is agreed on

Hhhhmmm, I'm not nearly the PG fan I always thought I was.
The song is definitely familiar to me, but honestly, I think I need to pull out OVO again to listen to it.
It is, of course, a very nice bit of your 1,000s of songs.

Nice tune. Keep them coming MrG. Needs more cowbell. LOL.

She was cheating on me. Music like this has gotten me through so much. Truly a blessing.

A fun look at early and alternative visions of a great song!

Now THIS version I recognize as Shock the Monkey.
Note: Shock the Monkey is the FIRST PG video I have ever seen and still remember it being scary as shit to me. However, I do love the song and that’s all that really matters to me. Thanks much, Pat Parker

Love those demos and works in progress. I hope there will be more from the Peter Gabriel IV album in the next full moons, in particular songs like San Jacinto and Lay Your Hands On Me!

Just listened today, along with the other version.
I'm not at all familiar with any single bit of this song and personally, I had to keep looking to be sure it truly was "Shock the Monkey" -- but overall, it's great music, so I imagine you can use it for your newest songs LOL ... they are still in progress I hope. Thanks much and take care, Pat Parker

Wow! Cool! I was watching the end of the track approaching, and I just wanted it to go on! Hoping that we would hear Peter stumble across a lyric that stayed. Like “cover me” or “now I’m on my knees” or as the tape label suggests “shock!” Fantastic stuff.

Wow! It's beautiful, like something out of the late sixties, early seventies, so soulful and would have blown a few minds at Woodstock :)

Thanks for this, it is entirely new to me - Happy Pink Full Moon!

I have heard it before but not sure how or where, a beautiful piece and although I have OVO as an album, this is a welcome addition. I love ‘The Tower That Ate People’ track and I am hoping that you will have something related to that track to add. Make tomorrow, today is also one I love. Thanks for this one Peter 😃⭐️👍🏻
