  1. Wind Dynamic Organ, Deviations
    by Taylor Deupree & Zimoun
    supported by
    Finn of Tomland thumbnail
Finn of Tomland I think that it's great that Taylor Deupree and Zimoun has joined forces and together explored and experimented with the sound and the possibility of the sound that the WDO produces on this total gem of an album because it adds a further sonic dimension to this instrument and what actually can be done with it.
And when 2 sonic maestros like these are at work you get this fantastic release with total aural bliss in 6 parts.
    A must have.
    guy peeters thumbnail
guy peeters nice to hear a fine ambient piece !
    Rays of wisdom thumbnail
Rays of wisdom I really love when ambient music doesn't have such an explicit melody but just gives you an atmosphere, without forcing you to vibe to it. Favorite track: Deviation I.
    ⧪ ⁿ* ⧻ ⧴ thumbnail
⧪ ⁿ* ⧻ ⧴ The fact that these two albums, both based on the Wind Dynamic Organ, are being released simultaneously yet independently of each other is very interesting. They somehow belong together, but function as independent works. Zimoun's solo album is very pure and direct, while these works here in collaboration with Taylor Deupree delve microscopically into the depths of the organ sounds and transport us into fascinating, vast soundscapes. Stunning works! Favorite track: Deviation I.

  3. Solo Three
    by Erik Hall
    supported by
    zhangtastic thumbnail
zhangtastic A cinematic soundtrack done by a talented multi-instrumentalist. No sequencers apparently! These loops sound like you're flying high in the sky. Favorite track: Music for a Large Ensemble (Steve Reich).
    The Tonearm thumbnail
The Tonearm "It's a delicate recipe for success—the way the music translates to my own set of instruments here in my space. It has to be the right combination of paying respect to the work and taking it somewhere I find interesting and new, while maintaining that musical and emotional behavior and sentiment."

Check out our interview with Erik Hall on The Tonearm ✨→ www.thetonearm.com/the-solitary-ensemble-of-erik-hall-minimalist-trilogy-solo-three/ Favorite track: A Folk Study (Laurie Spiegel).
    adam thumbnail
adam Thank you for this beautiful music. The whole series has been wonderful. I’m only bummed that this is (afaik) the last one in the series. Favorite track: Strumming Music (Charlemagne Palestine).
Micro Landscape of a Bathroom Sink thumbnail
Micro Landscape of a Bathroom Sink Thank you very much Erik. Who would have guessed to find an album that offers performances of both Glenn Branca and Steve Reich. It sounds so natural.

Javier Gómez Hell yeah Big Greg Favorite track: Bristlecone.

brodonnell what i want the soundtrack of my everyday life to be Favorite track: Imprint.
    Carsten Pieper thumbnail
Carsten Pieper A guitarist's solo album that sounds nothing at all like a guitarist's solo album! Well, formally multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer would be more correct here, but as the guitar is Gregory's main instrument, I'll let that stand ;-)

Hard to describe experimental stuff between jazz, folk, minimal music and what not. One of the albums where you await (with an open mouth and bright eyes) what he comes up with next. Favorite track: Days.
    Tim Shrout thumbnail
Tim Shrout Throughout listening to this record, my mind goes back and forth between thinking "how is that sound being made" and "that melody is achingly beautiful." Some records only make me think one of those things, or predominantly one of those things. Each time I listen to Extra Stars I hear new things, and experience an extra layer of emotional intensity. A top release of 2026 for me, for sure. Favorite track: Days.

smoore_2001 This album transports you so fully to a place almost outside of time. Transcendant yet tranquil. Favorite track: Late Autumn.
    Robert Kyte thumbnail
Robert Kyte It is exciting to listen to something on the edge of collapse. Sputtering into being & evolving. To be a passenger on a musical journey, a witness to improvisation. These IV inspirational players are the wheels on this creative juggernaut of a vehicle, overdriving the headlights and not wearing seatbelts. This is jazz which does not obey speed limits, immaculate & dangerous. It is not hard to understand why Flea wanted Mr. Parker and company to be the band around his solo album.
    More, please! Favorite track: Freakadelic.
    tzyb thumbnail
tzyb I love this album so much. The intimate sound, the meditative minimalism. It’s mesmerising, grounded and uplifting at the same time. Thank you. Favorite track: Freakadelic.

Lars Gotrich There's an amazing story about the inspiration behind Jon Mueller's energetic drone-n-drum album, which involves a mysterious radio frequency and conspiracy theories. But you can also just zen out, volume up. newsletter.vikingschoice.org/archive/new-music-friday-ancient-zither-jazz-soft-rock/ Favorite track: Contrast.
