Urso X Obstacle’s description is spot on 🎯 Listening to this ambient revisiting of NONE’s first two songs is an elegiac experience. Favorite track: Withered.
    Obstacle of Affliction thumbnail
Obstacle of Affliction like looking at pictures of a long dead relationship and holding back the tears but also trying to remember anything.

sashavonkarl74 A Scottish band I knew nothing about, and shame on me, totally, for missing that Live Burial's guitarist Richard Codling was the link, and I listened to Live Burial recently... LOL at @Urso 's comment :) I wasn't ready, but damn, this is one EOY list wrecker for sure!! Favorite track: Orbus Non Sufficit.

    positronicping thumbnail
positronicping Tremendous blackened thrash that pins you to the wall with its punk energy then opens you up with its deft atmospheric touches. Fair warning, this is a highly addictive listen. Favorite track: Seize the Stars.

Eric Devin Excellent! Maybe a notch below Rime but still another outstanding example of Austin's work!
    tomazp thumbnail
tomazp There are no missteps when it comes to Panopticon. The journey has wound as a life does: from rage to resolve, from despair to wonder. From Collapse through Kentucky, from Scars through Laurentian Blue, there has existed a promise of Panopticon fully integrating the disparate elements of Crust, Black, Folk, Doom, and Bluegrass, the themes of nature, political action and personal struggles. Here is Panopticon, perhaps finally fully realized in the new guise of a storyteller. Wonderful. Favorite track: Ghost Eyes in the Fire Light.
    Harold N’Hiver thumbnail
Harold N’Hiver I just turned 50. I have always cared about this world and I still do. But as I age it gets ever harder to give a fuck, especially as the world continues to spiral into greater depravity on a daily basis.

BUT - I have 3 children who will inherit what I leave behind, and every time a Panopticon release drops, and Austin writes, “Don’t let the fire burn out,” I am reminded that I am called upon to care more then ever, and to fight. This man’s records call me to that struggle

    Thank you, Austin.

sashavonkarl74 Right here @YomaBarr, right here 🤘🏼thank you for summoning me 🍻

Fuck me this is raping my ears and hammering my brain like a quarry excavator! It's like Obituary on steroids multiplied by Abramelin! Cave-deep and demonic vocals, quite expected from gorish DM Sepulcrum vocalist Miranda. Favorite track: Kathartic Trance.
    YomaBarr thumbnail
YomaBarr Where the actual f is everybody? There should be hundreds here, not the mere 79!
Some of the best in this terrific death metal year! Vicious and predatory, evil riff upon evil riff, and I can easily picture the vocalist as a cross between a pissed off grizzly and a rabid wolf. And this is only their debut full length! Good luck matching this, Black Curse!

    Sashavonkarl! You around?
😆🍻 btw, Temple of Dread kicks ass, I have their previous too, but that's for later.
    ldfades thumbnail
ldfades One of the best death metal albums of 2024 so far. It’s nestled nicely in my Bandcamp collection but please get this on the streaming platforms for the wider audience to enjoy.
