Felipe Tofani 16 continues being one of the most interesting bands in the sludge scene. They play slow and heavy without sounding like all the cliches in the genre. Favorite track: The Absolute Center of a Pitch Black Heart.
    wbaveganstoner thumbnail
wbaveganstoner Great no nonsense metal! Great driving music if you want to get somewhere in a hurry! Favorite track: The Absolute Center of a Pitch Black Heart.
    The Catalyst thumbnail
The Catalyst These eight tracks are massive, and showcase -(16)- at their absolute best, er worst. Sludgy riffs and fervent vocals collide in the band's trademark style. Easily worth the price for longtime fans, and newcomers alike. Favorite track: Peaches, Cream and the Placenta.
    FLESH MECHANIC thumbnail
FLESH MECHANIC This record has everything that made me fall in love with this band years ago. Riffs on this album are monumental (the one on Gallows Humor is a monster) and every instrument does its part very well. The band does a great job on both fast and slow songs and not one of them is a filler. I'm happy to say that there has yet to be a bad 16 album, because this one did not disappoint at all. Favorite track: George.

slc_winterized The absolutely ethereal and ghostly atmosphere found within these songs, along with that haunting voice, feel like a (dark) dream even when I am awake. The sound is quite unique and inimitable in my little opinion. A really powerful and authentic album. Favorite track: Diminution.

Terrence Falconer Love to see Mark continuing developing on "A Son's" qualities. This whole album feels more hopeful and more modest, although less conceptual.
"A Son" for me was a heartbreaking experience. It feels like it had a bigger distance to hope than "The Patience Fader" has. "A Son's" chords were as if on the verge of breaking. It felt like it (the narrator maybe) was overwhelmed by the path it had to cover.
Here chords are closer, they sound warmer, more intimate
    AB thumbnail
AB Took me time to catch up and better understand this record. Definitely the right thing to do, to take your time.... Like we used to do before everything was a "click" away eh? This is the soundtrack to 2022. Equal parts hope and loss. Tape hiss to serenade us and high tone guitar, life looped, sitting all pretty on top. Deep listening, beautiful artwork and masterful playing of silence, hiss and hope. Architecture, sun, snow fall, large window views, family around us sonically speaking x
