  1. A Plane Over Woods
    by The Vernon Spring
    supported by

gbachman so much texture. Only rivaled in that respect by Burial's Untrue, but instead of dropping you into blade runner you're in a moodier great British bake-off.
    John Seltenreich thumbnail
John Seltenreich I think I was hesitant to order this at first wondering 'if there was enough there?' But now having listen through a few times I see just how rich and deep VS's compositions and playing are. For me, the playing is a bit like Evans in the phrasing, but also a bit like Monk as the resonance of the space between the notes carry their own weight. You can tell by the other reviewers how much this work offers each of us on an individual level. So, don't be like me... hesitant... just buy this.
    andandoandando thumbnail
andandoandando I bought the vinyl. I can't wait to listen to this album with my hifi system because in my opinion we are facing an absolute masterpiece

    The Tonearm thumbnail
The Tonearm "I think being limited is good for creativity, as it focuses on the idea rather than the technique. The songs are the most important things, and not the technique. I think sometimes you hear that people lose themselves in the technique, and then in the end, there's no core or nothing, no real ideas."

jewins There's something quietly radical about a band returning, after years of restless experimentation, with an album that simply sounds like themselves. If Vertigo Days felt like a record made in isolation, News from Planet Zombie feels like one made in community. That distinction matters, and it shows.
    semakeepsgoing thumbnail
semakeepsgoing I dont remember last time I've listened for a whole album start to finish, and repeat, in years...this album naturally hooked me since the first seconds, and once finished I wanted more...something musically different that made me stop and refrain from nowadays crazy and overspeeding existences...Love the production that hits my taste for sound, lyrics touch deeply...if I have to go for a preferred track I would say Red Sun, however for me the whole album is a single and slowly enjoyable act Favorite track: Red Sun.

Xtra Happy I'm glad I keep stumbling upon projects Tape has been involved in through the years, as their collaborative works for me are among their best. Following on from 2007's Tan-Tan Therapy, Tenniscoats and Tape continue with their great blend of post-rock ambience, lo-fi folk and soft vocal passages, that make for peaceful easy-listening afternoons. Throwing in the 2008 Lutie Lutie / Come Maddalena 7" as two bonus tracks is also a nice touch. Favorite track: ひこうき / Hikoki / Airplane (2022 Remaster).
    zorba72 thumbnail
zorba72 Papa's Ear was one of the best album of 2012, hands down. It's great Morr is giving this stuff a vinyl shape and another spin. Tennis music should reach more people out there. ❤️
