mike-rix Not the usual kind of album in my collection. Shaped by traditional acoustic instruments and enriched by Catherine Graindorge’s strings (Singer Simon H. Jones appears in return on her lyrical Songs for the Dead), The Devil’s Door has an distinctive sound. And Also the Trees remain one of the few authentic survivors of the early 1980s new wave. I sometimes miss the more energetic side of the band, heard in Shaletown, Feeling Fine, and Slow Pulse Boy. Still, The Devil’s Door is a remarkable album. Favorite track: I lit a light.
    Souldriver thumbnail
Souldriver A comforting warmth, a luminous darkness...this band is so unique and beautiful. And so is "The Silver Key". Can't wait to add "The Devil's Door" to my growing AATT collection.
    matso70 thumbnail
matso70 C'est tout simplement un concentré de ce que AATT peut faire de mieux. Un très grand album.
Ca dépasse en fait la discographie du groupe. Cet album devrait finir dans toute discothèque honnête. Favorite track: The Rifleman's wedding.

Mount_Mourn A spiralling, swirling industrial ambient noise cavalcade Favorite track: Sex With Sun Ra (Part One - Saturnalia).
    uberwenig thumbnail
uberwenig It's at least one of the top 10 albums of COIL (with Musick to play in the Dark, The Remote Viewer, and many more). The dark ambiance, the beautiful songs, the intensity of Black Antlers, all perfectly mixed. I'll probably always love TG and Coil. Favorite track: Black Antlers (Where's Your Child?).
    Christian Mumford thumbnail
Christian Mumford Industrial music vs noise/art rock: Coil is big boss. John Balance RIP. Daydream Nation, Goo & Dirty are my era of Sonic Youth as a big fan + Ciccone Youth & Teenage Fanclub "The King". Coil is not a junkie band like Ministry but New Model Army swedish St. John Catherine's hideway St. Lucia - ULVER police state Oslo Google Beowulf. Capricorn burn January Aeon Flux MTV. Favorite track: Wraiths And Strays (From Montreal) (Bonus Track).

yakomaru One of the best drone albums I've ever listened too. Wish something could match it.
    nofatclips thumbnail
nofatclips 2nd listen: Empire System should be added to the core classical music canon. And the strings on "Secretly Wishing for Rain"? *chefs kiss*

1st listen: Sublime and yet understated. Favorite track: Empire Systems.

    Derek Walmsley thumbnail
Derek Walmsley This is the kind of longform sound collage that sounds like years of thought and listening has gone into. As you'd expect from The Necks' drummer, there's brilliant percussion throughout, but it's not just simple strikes of a drum kit, but ever-shifting layers and different spaces and dimensions. Like the best Necks pieces, it develops slowly and with its own logic, and the important parts of the piece only become clear gradually.

    Hito thumbnail
Hito Masterfully executed in a manner only a veteran live improviser can; that is, with the capacity to inhabit that sphere between macro and micro and explore both simultaneously. Thoughtful, intense and intricate but never overwrought, it was a delightful and emotional listen. Headphones recommended for catching all the grains of ear candy.
