Another local band! I saw this group live April 22nd, 2026. I heard this album maybe a week or two before the show and knew I needed to hear it live. Described as "post-death metal", this has richly detailed guitar work that makes for some memorable songwriting. It's honestly incredibly how much sound two women were able to get just by playing guitar and drums. Definitely catch this live if you can! FFO Fallujah, Crown of Madness and Convulsing.

Completely unexpected journey of the mind, from the music to the annotations. I am happy for all that have words them now. And I mourn the years when I didn't.. But now I have. All hail the new flesh.

That esoteric yet enticing cover art immediately caught my eyes in Bandcamp’s metal-focused monthly newsletter-blog thingy.
While the concept of “instrumental emotional post-death” can be puzzling, the result speaks by itself. This is powerful – almost crushingly so at times – but not incapable of dispensing mercy upon the listener, and twists around without self-inflicting any knots.
Favorite track: I Am The Future Both Feared And Hoped For.

If you think you know what this album sounds like, no you don't. Building on and then exceeding the niche trend of instrumental/progressive doom and stoner metal of the last few years, A Body is a Suggestion is a masterclass in the power of composition.

Open Mike Eagle is a really great artist, every album has a purposeful thematic angle. His perspective comes equal parts from self reflection and his own relationship with art itself. Qualifiers is the stand out track here.
Favorite track: Qualifiers.

One of my top albums of 2014. Love this trilogy: 1) Thirsty Ego Raps 2) Golden Age Raps 3) Sadface Penance Raps

Best song of the year from the best album of the year.

I had to sift through 150 doom albums before finding this one. Finally, some audacity, a vision, a different journey. After taking the time over two albums to test his mixes, Doubtsower retained what worked: this third opus marks a statisfying distillation of his art; I wish it'll go on refining in this direction.

Im glad to see Im not the only one who felt Box of Rain in Rocks in my Pockets. The bittersweet casualty of mortality in folk songs is a balm for the soul in times of grief; I need it, so I believe it.

I listened to this song 5x in a row before therapy. I could have listened to it 5 more times. Make sure you read the song description <3

A Scottish band I knew nothing about, and shame on me, totally, for missing that Live Burial's guitarist Richard Codling was the link, and I listened to Live Burial recently... LOL at @Urso 's comment :) I wasn't ready, but damn, this is one EOY list wrecker for sure!!
Favorite track: Orbus Non Sufficit.

Metric has been my favorite indie pop band of the past couple decades. It doesn't matter how many times I've listened to every album - I can't imagine ever growing tired of these catchy songs and Emily's great lyrics/vocals.
Favorite track: I.O.U..

I just listened to this album for the first time .. I’d never heard of the band of the album before. The fact that it’s mind blowingly good is what makes me so passionate about music.. there’s always going to be amazing music that you’ve never heard before! This is the start of my Metric journey 😊
Favorite track: The List.

Came on Bandcamp looking to scratch a heavy metal itch. Found the album Paradise Metal now I'm going into work in robes, sandals and wafting an incense burner around.

WoW, this is astonishing, I love this - moves from droney poney to monks chanting & every track rips...

I so feel this album description, and as a gay/queer man, I’m 💯 down for the patricidal black metal tag. I don’t hear “eyeliner and rainbows” on this record (maybe they save it for their live shows?) and that’s fine by me; this hits RAW and HARD, which is how I like it 😏
Favorite track: Jeg blir til deg.

It's a great slice of thrash that highlights two of my favorite obscure late 80s styles - technical thrash, and the wall-of-sound thrash that tipped over into death metal. The 80s spirit is alive and well, from the riffing to the soundbites to the artwork to the nicely organic production. This album is full of character and soul, and I'm glad it's something deeper than the usual white hi-tops retread.
Favorite track: Faithless Continuum.
