    sarikat thumbnail
sarikat This record has such a somatically calming effect on me... it pulls me into a space inhabited by sounds with an aliveness to them. I can touch and feel and laugh with these sounds as they cavort about my brain. Thank you Nala Sinephro. Favorite track: Space 1.

  3. Promises
by Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders & The London Symphony Orchestra
    supported by
    onetr thumbnail
onetr A strong showing in minimalist classical in its own right, made even more interesting by the fact that this is Pharaoh Sanders' last appearance in music ever.

Side B kicks off with an incredible tear-jerker sequence, hence I put Mov. #6 as my favorite track! :) Favorite track: Movement 6.
    Ghuughra thumbnail
Ghuughra I know pundits like to throw around terms like 'breathtaking' and 'transcendent' with all the restraint of a toddler with a can of silly string, but d*mn if I can think of a more fitting set of adjectives.

Don't think I've ever heard anything quite like this. Pharaoh is the type of virtuoso that doesn't need to blow you out with tech to leave you speechless. Got me feeling emotions n sh*t. Favorite track: Movement 7.
    luixcampox thumbnail
luixcampox Masterpiece! .. complex and subtle. Something holds everything togheter, stable, but also there is always change and movement.
    .
Can't imagine how precise musicians must have been, and what a state of focus required to perform this whole sound trip.

    Beautifull!

Belt of Venus Belt of Venus
    supported by
    _hopskipjump thumbnail
_hopskipjump distilled breath, process, a magic eye effect to catch a glimmer of anguish amid the sensation of floating. endlessly replayable <3 Favorite track: Plantwood (Day).
    Tom Colquhoun thumbnail
Tom Colquhoun 4 peaceful jazz vignettes. Belt of Venus is aquamarine, with a slow, tidal energy as dignified as the sea. The aptly named plantwood is budding, emergent as flowers on dewy moss in the forest.
Stained Glass Sauna has a smoky, mountain resonance, while the Sunken Cabin emerges slowly from dust-mote stillness to tortured but deliberating peaks. The whole thing is bursting with character. Favorite track: Belt of Venus.
    ben1992 thumbnail
ben1992 I love the sound and texture of this one so much Favorite track: Belt of Venus.
