  1. Despise The Sun
    by Suffocation
    supported by
    Obsidian One thumbnail
Obsidian One Despite having only five songs, this is still, for me, the best album by Suffocation. The riffs at 0:42 and 2:57 in 'Funeral Inception', at 0:35 in 'Despise the Sun', and at the beginning of 'Bloodchurn' all use that classic Suffocation style: the drums take a step back, then the drums and second guitar come in spurts before finally unleashing the full intensity of their signature death metal sound. And 'Catatonia' remains one of the most iconic death metal tracks of all time. This EP kills it. Favorite track: Catatonia.
    Sid thumbnail
Sid Gotta love Suffocation. Not only were they pioneers of brutal death metal, they also continued setting the bar higher for the genre with their technical yet coherent songwriting.

This was the last featuring Chris Richards and Doug Cerrito. It's evident when you listen to this and compare it to Souls of Deny. While Souls to Deny is great, Despise the Sun sounds like a continuation of Pierced From Within than a prelude to Souls of Deny based on the small intricacies of Cerrito and Richards Favorite track: Catatonia.

R Suffocation’s most focused release. Beyond brutal, unrelentingly pummeling. Best death metal EP of all time contender.

StrengthWithin I’ve been on the fence about this one for a long time. However a special Christmas price on their colored vinyl kicked some sense in me. Great energy from this album. I did have acquire the taste for the vocals. Favorite track: Behind Closed Doors.

Cadavre_Sombre (Midgard_OBM) Good compilation with a cool cover art, one my favorite Death Metal/Grind band, with also melodic passages. I always like the vocals, quite hateful, the compositions are great, awesome riffs, this is catchy and dynamic, excellent release.

lnphi Friggin' love DOOM and the first time I've heard of Andrew Hulshult was on his Quake theme remake. I've recently played the Steam rerelease of Doom 1/2 and the moment I saw the option to enable Andrew's recreated OST I knew I was about to hit gold. Only took me until E1M5 to buy this beautiful thing. Favorite track: Running from Evil.
