grahamy I fell asleep listening to this on my headphones and then had a really disturbing and disorienting lucid dream. Intense atmosphere, but it makes for a distressing listen

Absolutely gorgeous and melancholic melodies filtered through a raw and triumphant sound, incredible. Favorite track: The Mark Bore by the Shadow Hunger.
    Rawnoisebutcher thumbnail
Rawnoisebutcher Sanguinous Moth is becoming one of the best journeymen vocalists in modern black metal, if he's involved with something it's worth checking out. This is some of his best work.

    Obsidian One thumbnail
Obsidian One The opening of 'Age of Chains' is a breath of fresh air in black metal — atmospheric, melodic, epic. The music has a different feel than most in the genre: less dark and more fantasy, though still intense at times with icy guitar riffs and cold blast beats. I like the bright-colored cover art, with no logo or text, and the title of the fifth track, 'Behold the Shadow of My Thoughts', is great as well. Favorite track: Age of Chains.
    Jana thumbnail
Jana Welcome to the magic world of J.R.R. Tolkien, I mean its darker side, of course 😉 This album promises an intense experience to look forward to by all lovers of epic black metal and strong storytelling. I'd like to highlight its excellent production and memorable riffs, as well as collaboration with names as Hulder and Lamp of Murmuur. And yes, it's possible to make lead synth that doesn't sound cheesy 😁 Favorite track: Behold the Shadow of My Thoughts.
    Sid thumbnail
Sid A refreshing surprise. This album has the ferocity that black metal is known for, but has a little bit of the melodic and dungeon synth aspect of it sprinkled in as well. Musically, this album reminds me of Hrad, Caladan Brood, and Stormruler.

The Tolkien lyrical themes are also really neat. Favorite track: Of Desperate Valor.

fietsband Having delved into Ethiopian jazz, as many before, and finding musical outliers like "Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru" or "Yishak Banjaw", this is yet again another wonderfully beautiful outlier. Favorite track: ድንግል ባንቺ አፍሬ - Dengil Banchi Aferie.
