Roope Mäkinen combines warm electric piano ambiences, lo-fi synths and simple, yet nuanced melodies to create intimate atmospheres that radiate nostalgia. The main melody of Valiant is a prime example of this: playing ESA for the first time and hearing that felt like coming home again. And while this understated and moody coziness doesn't really fit everywhere with the game's emotional tones, where it does land it creates earthquakes. But as a soundtrack on its own it rocks my socks.
