    Kintners Library thumbnail
Kintners Library I’m not a Sabbath fan per se. But I could listen to Jazz Sabbath all day everyday. The energy and precision is infectious. It’s more than quality, it’s heart. I appreciate the live aspect as well. It’s a movie in the mind of great jazz shows. Hard to not like that, around these parts. Favorite track: War Pigs (Live).
    wbaveganstoner thumbnail
wbaveganstoner It's Jazz, it's Sabbath songs...what's not to like?
Really well performed renditions and, like the band Brown Sabbath, give you another way to enjoy the songs of Black Sabbath. Perfect for long car journeys.

palehorse666 simultaneously beautiful and devastating in its tone and themes, but also its vocal performances and instrumentation. Favorite track: The Poet's Ballet.
    sashavonkarl74 thumbnail
sashavonkarl74 I did not think that GAEREA could top "Unsettling Whispers" but I am proven wrong today, for this album is an Opus Magnum, and they DID IT!!!

Edit: one of the most played albums of 2024 in my BC app, and definitely top-10 nominee for AOTY!! Favorite track: Kingdom of Thorns.
    acaDamien thumbnail
acaDamien From the uplifting vocal harmonies on the Poet's Ballad and then driving right into the harsh vocals, the guitars coupled with the blistering beats of the drums this is an enjoyable and unbelievable listen all the way through. Favorite track: Wilted Flower.

    Bart thumbnail
Bart I can't be the only one thinking they were getting by on fumes and legacy. This is a whirling storm of evil epic metal. Atilla's twisted and ever-changing vocals are highlight on this album. Easily one of my favorite Mayhem albums in their discographies. Favorite track: Weep for Nothing.
    fyeahmetal thumbnail
fyeahmetal This is the most bombastic thing I've heard in a while. The production is like Kubrick's droogs breaking china in a cathedral for 50 minutes straight. The triggered drums get overwhelming at times. But I'm here for it! The devil's music should be loud. And these are heavy, ripping tunes seemingly designed for the stage. They're a perfect dramatic setting for Attila to spew 50 shades of black. Turn this up and turn those crosses down. Favorite track: Weep for Nothing.
    acaDamien thumbnail
acaDamien It's an amazing display of Mayhem. What more can be said? It is REALLY good. Heavy, dark, and even ritualistic. Favorite track: Despair.
    Jono Schneider thumbnail
Jono Schneider Fucking brutal evil spirits tearing through you and searing your soul with frozen fire Favorite track: Weep for Nothing.

Wilfredo Rausseo No words can express what the heart and soul wants to say, but as always, 40 watt sun breaks this rule. Patrick gives everything in each song, and that's actually something to admire.
    Xfn thumbnail
Xfn A voice that has lived 1,000 lives & retained all of the emotional information from each to bestow on the world. Favorite track: The Undivided Truth.
    Dr Sküllfük thumbnail
Dr Sküllfük 40 Watt Sun delivering as always, a beautiful album. The slow down on Pour Your Love’s chorus is a particularly beautiful moment, Astoria is wonderful and the guitar solos sprinkled throughout make me think of the old Warning albums in a great way. Excellent production and the electric guitar tone works so well. Also the final moments of The Undevided Truth give a little nod to the oldr albums more metal routes, very nice to hear these moments in the new material. Favorite track: Pour Your Love.

bmurator US & Swiss Melodic Black Metal. I hesitate to say anything as I do not wish to appear above Ippocalyptica's excellent comments... :) So I refer you to his words & will just add that this is as awesome as can be & you need it in your life! Do the right thing & hit that buy button now! Highly recommended!!!
    H.L. thumbnail
H.L. MODERN RITES play melodic black metal that sounds very intense and sometimes even threatening. The effect is more industrially cold than hellishly hot. Catchy songs like "Lost Lineage", "Becoming", "Autonomy" or "Philosophenweg" generate a lot of pressure, but also offer some majestic moments including mystical, otherworldly guitars. The raw vocals are powerful and very fitting; goblin-like screaming would definitely be out of place here. A mighty opus! Favorite track: Philosophenweg.
    Ippocalyptica thumbnail
Ippocalyptica You can detect strands of Aara’s DNA in every song here, some of which are much more evident than others (like in the album’s standout, Veil of Opulence), but Modern Rites is very much charting its own course here. Light industrial tinges over a melodic yet muscular black metal framework result in a sound that is both unique and gripping in 2024. And, as I noted to YomaBarr earlier this year, I have been looking for metal lately that jolts me. Endless fits the bill! Favorite track: Veil of Opulence.

sashavonkarl74 This is album is great dissonance of Oblivion! Another great find, thank you @YomaBarr!!

Heavy with capital and bold H, loud, opulent, present, massive, you get the idea. Black Metal with overpowering DM growls, but also done in THAT.RIGHT.WAY. Favorite track: Ολική Αποσύνθεση.
