    by Al'Fado
    supported by
    Joerg Buchstaeber thumbnail
Joerg Buchstaeber Great music, far more than just another fado album, using silence as an aditional instrument.
Plus: an absolutely magnificent recording, will put your gear to its limits.
Some flute sections hint a subtle nod towards early King Crimson. Favorite track: Ó Gente Da Minha Terra.

    Barry Howard thumbnail
Barry Howard Hard to choose between the romantic "Put Your Devil in my Ass", the informative "The Devils Trick is not a Treat", or the ecumenical "Pray You Parrots".
Difficult because they are all - fkn - great.
As are the rest of the tracks, not one filler.
This blew off cobwebs I didn't even know I had.

    Jackie thumbnail
Jackie This guy is way too talented to need any gimmicks- but he's got a bunch.

If you seem him live- which you should- know that his stage performance consists of all the things your boyfriend does that gross you out, but he keeps doing because they make you laugh hysterically. Stand in back if you don't want to see him naked- although there's no escaping the sounds he makes with a live mic.
    mattogravy thumbnail
mattogravy just a unique, beautiful work of art, and there's no bad track on the whole masterpiece.

Brian Parker Don’t be fooled by the release date: this album is old enough, I remember a track being on the 3rd Fat Possum Blues Crap sampler.
    patzerblitz thumbnail
patzerblitz Early incarnation of one of my favorite bands, Buffalo Killers. Favorite track: Want You So Bad.
    mcebbie thumbnail
mcebbie Listening to this album makes me feel like I’m at CBGB during its ‘70’s heyday, minus second hand smoke and sweaty leather. Take a heap of The Stooges, a drop of Van Morrison in Them, and blend it with early Rolling Stones. and you’ve got this excellent band. Following in the footsteps of other great Ohio bands like The National, Black Keys, and The Breeders, I hope Thee Shams ‘Please Yourself’ will take them off into a stratosphere of success. Favorite track: She's Been Around.

    chicken egg: O thumbnail
chicken egg: O Some of my favorite chamber music ever made and one of my favorite albums. All of the subtle timbral/rhythmic changes make me think of ooze for some reason. The bass drum at the end of Stil is utterly hypnotic. I personally feel this album is better than the original! Favorite track: Stil. (For Vibraphone & Bass Drum).

polinos Reworking of Stil., Taylor Duprees excellent minimalist electronic work with live instruments. Perhaps even better - at least warmer and more organic - than the predecessor.
