plasticwrap a classic, the album that blew up at a specific moment in music when the goofy trippy scary indie music often transcended or defied genre or the limits of instrumentation and recording and mixing. throw in Dan's most compelling storytelling and lyricism, and you have a monumental achievement in psychedelic dance music that also has elements that can give it a broad appeal. highly stimulating experience. are you experienced?

P.S. Sun on acid outside is a revelatory experience, try it Favorite track: Found Out.
    purelyanecdotal thumbnail
purelyanecdotal I have this on CD and fervently believe that this is Dan's only release that deserves to be immortalised digitally. I miss this era of Dan's work, where his music is frequently trippy, emotionally climatic, full of exciting changes, and dynamic in volume and texture. I hope he finds a similar kind of inspiration and takes a break from his current flavour of music composition, which is characteristic of electronic house, techno and hip-hop. Favorite track: Odessa.
    hoe thumbnail
hoe caribou just has the best first tracks. no argument. this is imo the best caribou album. otherworldly. Favorite track: Kaili.

    Divinhaquem thumbnail
Divinhaquem Idles is one of those bands once you hear, you know it's for life. It love bombs you by screaming what you think, playing what you feel and being fiercely happy amidst the crap.
Well, at least that's for me. And ironically , I knew them from my ex-bf. Idles and the cats surpassed the bullsht and I take them with me for life as an act of resistance.
    jenningsdt86 thumbnail
jenningsdt86 I'm a bit late to the party, but at least I got here. this album is fantastic. Slow Savage is my favorite track. It's a slow lament about how poor a partner one can be backed by a haunting piano and a faded drum beat ala the ronette's "be my baby", subverting that classic love song into an elegy of regret and shame. love it. Favorite track: Slow Savage.
    mattgraupman thumbnail
mattgraupman IDLES came right out of the gate, firing on all cylinders, with this one; a blistering set of post-punk anthems that'll get even the crustiest old punk pumping their fist and dancing in the pit. These boys have evolved into a versatile, well-oiled rock machine in the past few years but "Brutalism" proves it was all there all along, right from the beginning. Favorite track: Well Done.

Pure Knowing The whole album is fire, hymn is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Favorite track: Hymn.
    ruins thumbnail
ruins I almost think of this as Album Oriented Techno, in a way, not as a disparaging thing, but because it truly is an album and a total experience rather than a collection of singles. Each track takes you further down a musical journey of discovery very naturally, sequenced perfectly, layers of new sounds and beats. I'm not a techno expert but I'm a huge fan of music and this album, which I've been looking forward to since it was announced, is possibly my Album of the Year at this point. Favorite track: Hymn.
