helpfulbandit I love how music works. Tucked away in 91' (the year I was born) and brought back again for our ears. If you are reading this you have found a diamond. Music can transport us to places and this is another album that does it fantastically. Impossible to pick a favorite track. 'High' was the first one I heard and it made me buy the album immediately. 'It's Just A Hobby' is a wildly unique space though and might be the creative peak of this album imo at the moment.

vinny-ill The best thing I’ve heard in 2025, hands down. Ben LaMar Gay somehow keeps being varied, cohesive, intriguing, inspiring, all at once. A true one-of-a-kind genius who plays voice, horns, keys and percussion like they’re all extensions of the same heartbeat. And that voice… beautiful, controlled, alive. I can’t even explain...just listen.

Ex-Friendly Unlike any other artist out there, Ben is a true one-off, weaving threads from NOLA, gospel, leftfield jazz, improvisational tension and the deep African-American avant-garde history of Chicago. Brilliant. So glad to have seen him live twice and to be able to tell him how great I think he is. Favorite track: I am (bells).

Anarchae This track absolutely blew my mind. What a jam. Came as a fan of Four Tet, now looking up all of Tyler's work. Favorite track: Darkness, Darkness.
