  1. Rotten Garden
    by Grima
    supported by
    David Fischer thumbnail
David Fischer This has been rotting away in my wishlist ever since its release; take these words as an oath that this will not happen again. Grima and the accordeon, what a wonderful story. Although it's only used sparingly on Rotten Garden, it adds an unique touch of Russian folklore to the music. I enjoy the overall sound a ton - like sitting around a warm campfire on a frozen, enchanted forest glade in the middle of the darkest night. Thrumming bass, ferocious vocals - and accordeon. Grand atmosphere. Favorite track: Rotten Garden.
    mourner thumbnail
mourner For me this is their best release yet. The way they combine ice cold sounds with wonderful melodies and traditional instruments and different (yet all fierce) vocal approaches is breathtakingly good and quite unique. The songwriting skills are also top notch. A true masterpiece 🖤
    p3tunie thumbnail
p3tunie Third album and still great. All songs keep the high level throughout and thus another masterpiece from Siberia! Favorite track: Rotten Garden.

  2. The Dread March Of Solemn Gods
    by Ninkharsag
    supported by
    sashavonkarl74 thumbnail
sashavonkarl74 If the band's ambition was "just to" reproduce old melodic BM classics like Dissection and early Emperor, I'd say it is a grand success, shit even the cover art reminds me of the "Storm" album... However, I wish this album had a bit more personality to it. These guys are from the U.K., after all. The first half is majestic, the second half a bit less. Still it's a very enjoyable melodic BM album. Favorite track: Lunar Hex; The Art Of Mighty Lycanthropy.
    stevenamckay thumbnail
stevenamckay I miss Dissection, but these guys are keeping that spirit alive. Superb album! Favorite track: The Dread March Of Solemn Gods.
    Dan Hébert thumbnail
Dan Hébert A great blend of Dissection and Emperor. Gorgeous album art, too. Favorite track: Strigoi Diabolicum.

  3. The Black Swords Of Winter
    by Ninkharsag
    supported by
    RJ thumbnail
RJ High fidelity, high fantasy fueled melodic black metal. The performance is tight and the production is crisp. A solid and well rounded EP. This is my first exposure to Ninkharsag and I am looking forward to exploring their entire discography. 7/10 Favorite track: Beneath The Cloak Of Nightfall.
    Venombullet666 thumbnail
Venombullet666 Not a single second of this EP comes across as filler, it is perfectly crafted from start to finish and is an amazing continuation from their most recent full-length "The Dread March Of Solemn Gods"

Everything about this release is just perfect, all fans of Black Metal should give this at least one listening to Favorite track: The Grave Sworn Lords.
    Frosty Bear thumbnail
Frosty Bear The Dread March of Solemn Gods is a modern black metal masterpiece. I couldn’t wait for this EP. It doesn’t hit me as hard as the aforementioned (save for the last track, but it’s still a worthy inclusion in their discography. Favorite track: Beneath The Cloak Of Nightfall.

sashavonkarl74 Brazilian melodic/atmospheric BM outfit now signed with Northern Silence, so happy to see this new release! I really liked their previous full-length "Follow the Cold Path".

Brazil has a lot to offer when it comes to the known colder sound usually from Scandinavia... this is another opus there to prove it! Highly recommended if you like melodic black metal!

FFO Land of Fog, Outlaw, and The Kryptik. Favorite track: Forgotten Wolves.

The Unseen World The Unseen World

    Metallurgical Fire thumbnail
Metallurgical Fire This is arguably the most compositionally interesting and maturely written album the genre has seen. There is no shock value here at all, except for the quality of the songwriting and playing. It’s the Rush of black metal. Someone will inevitably put a post- or a -gaze on it. No need for that, although there are so many influences from other genres it’s hard to ignore. Favorite track: The Quiet Current.
    JDMP thumbnail
JDMP this is the sort of shit that just really hits you like a freight train. perhaps one of the best black metal acts to do it in recent times. and, to boot, does this record not sound like the impassioned cry of a world in pain?
    Metalhamster thumbnail
Metalhamster This is going to be a classic, folks. Easily AOTY, likely one of the best BM albums of the decade.

Rich Kinman Pretty much right from the start I liked this band. I looked them up to get an idea of the type band they are, their artwork kinda threw me and the name. Good stuff! \m/

    Ippocalyptica thumbnail
Ippocalyptica I am normally the first to find all of the Ulcerate-like bands - and Towering is VERY Ulcerate-like - but Yoma has superpowers that cannot be questioned, and I am grateful for her suggestion a few days ago to acquire The Oblation of Man. Easily 2026’s blackened DM frontrunner, and a real delight - in a terrifying way - from start to finish.
    AlexP thumbnail
AlexP The devil is hiding in the details... Every second of this album is very sophisticated .
This is really that Yoma, a bm version of Ulcerate.
    Terrible
    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X You and me both, Yoma. I enjoyed their previous, but I’m blown away by how f’n EPIC this is. And yes, very much blacker than before, and all the better for it. Huge thanks to the band and Dolorem for this!

Edit — Goosebumps start to finish. An unrelenting maelstrom, one of the best albums so far this year!

I’m down with that xtra-blackened version of Ulcerate description as well. Good catch :) Favorite track: The Devouring Presence.

Abyssius Murkraken Thanks to @shasha for pushing this through my feeds! You continue to keep me broke! 😆 (Worth it)

I can't believe I didn't stumble upon this band before. I am absolutely blown away by the musical prowess of this band.

I was captivated from start to finish, nothing in between to disrupt the flow of enjoyment.

Melodic/Symphonic black metal band with death metal influences. This is an absolute masterpiece, and yet another that i desperately needed to add to my collection.

    Highly recommended!
    sashavonkarl74 thumbnail
sashavonkarl74 A highly anticipated new opus by the Danes, at least for yours truly, and happy to see them in Apostasy Records' roster now too! If symphonic black / gothic metal with a strong female lead vocalist is your thing, you may want to avail yourself with this new gem! It is very varied in tempo but the riffs are sticky and the melodies plain enchanting, I loved every minute of it!! Favorite track: Nefarious Enclave.
