  1. Silent Echoes
    by Gruesome
    supported by
    Rat Bastard thumbnail
Rat Bastard as it stands, if you wind up next to me at a light, you too will be listening to Gruesome. like it or not. This band gets better with every release. I'm a fan of Human and Spiritual healing and this album hits home for me, waiting on the cassette!

favorite is a Darkened Window. just wow. Favorite track: A Darkened Window.
    fyeahmetal thumbnail
fyeahmetal I was on the fence about this because it is really a dead-on impression of prog-era Death, from the production to pedal point riffs to tempo shifts to drum accents to very specific tonalities/harmonies. But the execution is so good and the results so fresh that I can accept this as a legit continuation of late-90s Death. I've heard Death-influenced bands and Death tributes, but this is some eerie-yet-great back-from-the-dead business. Favorite track: Condemned Identity.

gulfcoastfishman It’s been great living in Tampa since 1984 and watching all these people chase their dream not for monetary value, but for the integrity of the moment

    by Panopticon
    supported by
    Ron thumbnail
Ron *Kentucky* by Panopticon is probably my new favorite pro-labor album of all time. Between the covers of traditional labor songs like "Come All Ye Coal Miners" and "Which Side Are You On?", and the haunting lyrics in songs like "Black Soot and Red Blood", this album has a little bit of everything I enjoy. Favorite track: Black Soot and Red Blood.
    papi_gingy_ thumbnail
papi_gingy_ This album is just simply original, and that's very hard to get with today's music. Favorite track: Bodies Under the Falls.
    raven511 thumbnail
raven511 Great tribute to all the hardworking coal miners in Harlan county that never got what they worked all their lives for and so many got buried for. Favorite track: Black Soot and Red Blood.

whointheareyou? AOTY for 2023, yes yes indeed. But peggy should've not remastered this, this album sounds ood than the OG version, I'm only buying ts just bc it's my fav album from Devaughn plus imma be real. The production on this album is INSANE, esp on 'God Loves You' I've been bumping this song forever and I love visualing things in my head while listening to ts. I hope peggy's new album is something like this, if not. That's fine, hopefully I'll fw it so I'll have an excuse to go to his concert. Favorite track: God Loves You.

    Gavin Hellyer thumbnail
Gavin Hellyer It's almost inconceivable to me how Moor Mother can just continue to deliver with such consistent excellence. Each new album seems to me to be better than the one before it. Each new album more melodic than the previous yet not at the sacrifice of creativity and experimentation. This one has soul, rap, blues and jazz all in mighty abundance. Thank you Camae for being so magnificent. Favorite track: ARMS SAVE (feat. Nicole Mitchell).

cherub.wya A dub raggae masterpiece. Horace Andy's voice is so soothing & warm regardless of his age. It just keeps getting better. Favorite track: Safe From Harm.
    Steve Cummins thumbnail
Steve Cummins Wonderful vocals from Horace Andy, a voice as fresh now as it was when he first burst on to the reggae scene in the early 1970s. Superbly produced by Adrian Sherwood. Favorite track: Try Love.
    kadees thumbnail
kadees Es ist ein Glücksfall, dass Horace Andy mit 72 Jahren sein bestes Album abliefert. Zwei großartige Alben in diesem Jahr – das eine geht nicht ohne das andere.

Les Acteurs De l'Ombre Productions Get ready to have something crazier than it can possibly be. A Black Metal basis, enhanced by brass instruments, piano, accordion, Theremin, etc. surrounded by a nightmarish atmosphere : all creating a depraved and grotesque circus. Favorite track: Poil de Lune.

    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
Favorite track: Unscrupulousness Resolution.
    John Chaos Alexander thumbnail
John Chaos Alexander A chaotic psychotic waltz of mish mashing dischordantly sick chords melting together then arggressively splitting apart , exploding into a sperradic fury of spontanious destruction that's serenaded by throat ripping growls howling from a void of savagery, that twists and distorts the listeners brain. Fuck it was beautiful \M/ Favorite track: Vital Vision Void.

  6. Rückzug in die Innerlichkeit
    by Ellende

Rückzug in die Innerlichkeit Rückzug in die Innerlichkeit
    supported by
    Konnyy thumbnail
Konnyy Incredible 30min. Love this early, raw Ellende. In my opinion their best work alongside Todbringer. Favorite track: Pfad der Endlichkeit.
    Wound of Briccius thumbnail
Wound of Briccius Rückzug in die Innerlichkeit is a dark, real, brooding rollercoaster of human emotion and experience. The use of screams paired with the slowed, almost melancholic use of other non BM instruments makes this album sad, depressing, and mysterious. Although I wish it had more tracks and was overall a bit longer, Ellende has yet to disappoint me. If you want an album with very "human" emotions, this fits the bill perfectly. Favorite track: Pfad der Endlichkeit.
    Wisdoms End thumbnail
Wisdoms End I discovered Ellende in 2017, Todbringer was out for a few months.
Since then this project stuck with me and returning to it always feels a bit like coming home.
And I wish I could put in propper words why. It feels like BM grew up a bit and reflected on itself... it realized that there is more to it than miming a grimm block of ice.
To me it feels deeply human, lyrically melancholic, also musically but the instrumentation adds some wonderful bitter-sweetness to it. Like a poetic drama.
