Ippocalyptica
Absentia is a very interesting mix of atmospheric and often mellow black metal with folk and progressive rock influences. What does Blaze of Sorrow do better than many other bands? Simply put, conveying a wide range of emotion - from the melancholy to the hopeful - through well-crafted, distinct, and diverse songs. I hear a bit of Nokturnal Mortum, Moonsorrow, Anathema, Cor Scorpii, and others in this album, and the variety on display across these seven songs is impressive. Worthy of respect.
