Summer Angine de Poitrine, brings new fun and life into prog rock in both presentation and sound. I think if you like Cassiopeia you'll like them. Alternatively if you're transgender you will probably like them as well. Favorite track: Ababa Hotel.
    sassychicken17 thumbnail
sassychicken17 This album breaks my brain in the best of ways. From the innovative microtonal sounds to the time signature shifts, my mind and body are fully engaged with every track. Bandcamp has the audacity to force me to choose exactly one favorite song, but they are all great tracks! Favorite track: Ababa Hotel.

    Florian Arbenz thumbnail
Florian Arbenz Good old days! A 'real' jazz album! It's just pure fun to listen to this great band. Great lineup, some heavy cats playing. Shirley Scott has her very own voice and (of course) Billy Higgins keeps the music going in his very own and exciting way.

I used to play a lot with Kirk Lightsey who was a close friend of Billy Higgins and he used to talk a lot about playing with him. Apparently he'd say: "Billy, cymbalize me!"

A very apt description if you listen to the record.... Favorite track: Keep On Movin' On.
    hughchristopher thumbnail
hughchristopher Shirley was a really early influence for me on Hammond. She is so soulful, understated and lovely to feel.

Rustles and Waves Beautiful meditative organic music. It is so alive some of it may crawl out of your speakers and have a wee on your carpet. Just great.

    Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) thumbnail
Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) "479" is a band formed by the owl Potoo (bass), the fox Valentino Arco (synth), a guy named Hall (noise and sweets) and this album's star Rogelia - a pink-haired girl on drums. You don't believe it? Well, me too, but legend has it. Call it "479", son of "thebeachmachine", Danny Playamaqui, Danny Perez, or whatever you want... it's excellent stuff - some of the most exciting electronica avantgarde on the planet. Favorite track: Pills.
    Andrulian thumbnail
Andrulian A superb album that is electronic and avant-garde at heart but also has acid, IDM and breakbeat vibes at times.

The unusual time signatures create a great urgency and tension, contrasting elements work really well and grab your attention.

There's an excellent coherency given the experimental, avant-garde feel, it's confusing and hectic at times but always compelling and superbly arranged and produced.

Full review: wp.me/p2ZLkE-3r8 Favorite track: Harriet.
