Ippocalyptica It took me six years, but I finally bit: Saidan’s brand of dangerously-close-to-pop-melodies black metal is as infectious as it is legitimate, and calling this the softer - but not lighter (as this remains dark material) - analogue to Lamp of Murmuur is reasonable. If that comparison doesn’t do it for you, then the references to Moonlight Sorcery are also accurate, though Saidan comes off as a much happier-sounding affair (despite thematic and lyrical suggestions otherwise). A melodic funhouse!

Matt Psychotic depravity is a perennial in bloom. At 1st cut, everything that made ‘24’s “Visual Kill” worth truly listening to is here and doesn’t feel settled on. I’m personally unsure what the Amen-style breaks splattered throughout the album add, but they’re not unwelcome. Saidan conforming to what you want them to be has never been their style. Favorite track: Womb Of Hatred.

Igor The album art was what initially caught my attention (besides the obvious reasons...) because it looks very 90's-esque... Still I would say it is worth mentioning that it took 1 one track to make me blind purchase this... I have high hopes for this band and album! But so far I can already tell I will become a fan! I will add more when the full album drops... but man... I'm already excited! Favorite track: Carnal Tapestries Of Nailtorn Flesh.

Assaulted Nut In a landmark year filled with a variety of incredible releases, none are more of an ear-worm than Cold Light. What an absolute massive debut. This is going to be a band to keep an eye on. Favorite track: Obscured in Shadows.
