sanderkip Thank you talented queen! I'm gonna sing, dream and gasp to these instrumentals, just like I did before you ascended that ladder into heaven and left Pang vocalless (I'd like to believe that ladder leads to heaven, instead of it descending into hell on earth.) Thank you and here is my money!

  3. Enema Of The Garden State
    by Madi Diaz
    supported by
    Bob Lange thumbnail
Bob Lange This Madi Diaz album made me listen to those Blink 182 songs with new ears. They are really great songs about awkwardness (typically associated with youth, but trust me, we don’t all outgrow it). I went back and listened to Blink do a few of them and they don’t work nearly as well. Blink is too clean to sound awkward, but Diaz really captures that feeling musically as well. The truth is that, unknowingly, Blink 182 wrote these songs for Madi Diaz. She is the proper owner of them. Favorite track: Going Away To College.
    katilangille thumbnail
katilangille Madi Diaz is a maestro of sadness. Favorite track: Don't Leave Me.

    PeterA thumbnail
PeterA Just inspiring combination of emo-jazz in its purest form. Lyrically it goes over interesting ideas of multiculturalism, parental issues and generational trauma in some of the best ways I've heard in a while. All of the instrumental sections are just beautiful and both singers are outstanding. My favorite moments are probably the almost-yelling section halfway through "I'm From Here" and the horn sections on "Quirk". Favorite track: I'm From Here.
    shower thumbnail
shower A wonderful and sonorous take on emo that brings in elements from Talk Talk's instrumental pallet. Favorite track: I'm From Here.

    erin grimalkin thumbnail
erin grimalkin found this album in around 2015-16 when i was younger and i do not think i've been the same person. this has had such a major influence on both my interest in music and the art i make. thank you mr rick alvin. Favorite track: Diamonds.
    adambomber69 thumbnail
adambomber69 I grew up listening to the Beach Boys as a kid, and in my early twenties I ended up digging deeper into their more obscure, experimental discography.

When I came across this phenomenal album around the same time, it sounded to me as if this is what the Beach Boys would have become if they were a modern band (and continued leaning into the experimental stuff). I hope Rick interprets this as a massive compliment, as the Beach Boys are my favorite band. I always come back to this album. Favorite track: Quixotic.

ND I freaking love this. It's one of those albums I keep coming back to whatever other stuff I get into. It's refreshing and weird and dramatic and helps me shed all the other bullshit that I'm not about. Also there are no dud tracks. Every track is great. Favorite track: Shells.

starbadger a cute, trippy album about mario kart and weed that sounds like AnCo? a man after my own heart. One of my all-time favorites, and I mean that. Favorite track: Vanilla Dome.

    thas2s thumbnail
thas2s This album proved to me that Cindy Lee is the most talented / exciting guitarist and project of the decade. This album really does feel like flegel has fully stepped into the persona of Cindy Lee, forgoing a lot of the production of previous albums that were more akin to stuff on women. “Diamond Jubilee” is a musical journey by the artist Cindy Lee, not Patrick flegel. ITS PERFECT! Favorite track: 24/7 Heaven.
