nctwl Toby Driver et al continue to be one of the most interesting groups in the avante garde space. My favorite KD/TD release in a while, not for lack of competition. Favorite track: Closet Door in the Room Where She Died.

Metallurgical Fire Toby Driver may be the purest musician alive. He just doesn’t care whether he makes you uncomfortable. He isn’t afraid to do things vocally that would embarrass the shit out of a lesser talent. I don’t feel like I’m listening to a product when I hear this. It’s like I’m hearing someone’s soul speaking in the language of music. There’s nothing like it. Favorite track: Oracle By Severed Head.

Sam Being in the same room as these guys while they play was fucking amazing, so much talent and wonderful noise. I love other projects by each member but this album feels like each's best work, respectfully. Favorite track: Yellow Dawn.

Urso X I've spent days listening and trying to come up with a coherent and original review for this stunning album, but I seem to be at a loss for words (a rarity for me). The most cogent thing I can say that hasn't already been said is that SUMAC's musical evolution and sprawling, semi-improvisational style strongly calls to mind a metal version of the critically acclaimed late 8os/early 90s post-rock pioneers Talk Talk. Singular artists, uncompromising vision, every album a masterpiece. Transcendent! Favorite track: Yellow Dawn.
