    by AMENRA
    supported by
    colko thumbnail
colko My favorite Amenra record. Love that they went full on Flemish on this one! Favorite track: De Evenmens.
    the metal psychotherapist thumbnail
the metal psychotherapist Of course, this album stands on its own musically as deep and affecting. But not knowing the Flemish language led to reading the stories behind it of history and culture, the fire rituals, a communal expression and release of loss. Moreover, as CHVE explains the title and cover art: "We all have our own thorns that we grow in order to protect ourselves from outside harm." So many dimensions and so much to contemplate...a powerful experience. Favorite track: Voor Immer.

  4. De Toorn
    by AMENRA
    supported by
    Spinebrain thumbnail
Spinebrain Amenra cannot disappoint me. Their sound and atmosphere is untouchable. Favorite track: De Toorn (Talisman).
    Jono Schneider thumbnail
Jono Schneider An open wound shining down from the sky, covering everything with grief, endless pain, and the end times. Favorite track: Heden.
    the metal psychotherapist thumbnail
the metal psychotherapist To listen to AMENRA is to allow one's soul to be touched. The honesty invites us to drop our defenses...even if just for a few breaths of time.

The beginning of Heden seems to be a beckoning and the end of De Toorn (Talisman)...a completion.

  2. Alive With Scars - Epilogue
    by Flowers for Bodysnatchers
    featured track 00:00/00:00
At Least With Sorrow At Least With Sorrow
    supported by
    Dan Parker thumbnail
Dan Parker This epilogue rounds off the trilogy so well. As with the previous 2 installments this is a very well realised set of beautiful piano and ambient recordings. Sublime.
    David Loveless thumbnail
David Loveless What a masterful conclusion to the Alive With Scars trilogy! These songs are so cinematic that they belong on the soundtrack to your worst nightmares! It’s been a great year for Flowers for Bodysnatchers and Duncan Ritchie gets better and better with each release! Favorite track: Lhermitte's Sign.
    Ryota Hara thumbnail
Ryota Hara A moving and poignant conclusion to a trilogy of releases dealing with living with a terminal illness. This album overflows with melancholy and sorrow. The piano arrangements are both wonderfully original and familiar at the same time. Coupled with the pained string arrangement in A Knife Now Blackened and the electro-industrial Lhermitte's Sign this is the perfect conclusion to one of the most honest series of releases you will ever listen to. Favorite track: The Fine Art Of Tragic Loss.
