  2. The Density Parameter
    by Mesarthim
    supported by
    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
Favorite track: Fragmenting.
    Brian Parker thumbnail
Brian Parker You’re adrift in space, the systems in your space suit failing. As you feel yourself fading away, a star goes nova in your field of vision. It’s tendrils and waves of plasma reach out to you, and you smile, resigned to your fate. Of course, it was always going to be this way....

This is Mesarthim. Favorite track: Ω.
    Bushwalker thumbnail
Bushwalker Mesarthim is one of the few bands i can listen on repeat.

  3. The Degenerate Era
    by Mesarthim

    doive thumbnail
doive Alongside Midnight Odyssey, Inherits the Void and Darkspace this stands as one of the greatest Space Black Metal bands in my current loop ♫ .. It had been quite a while since I last could put a bunch of albums on constant repeat for days without feeling it was time for a change. Mesarthim's music is complex yet approachable, extreme but varied and rich. This one will remain within my favourites for quite some time. Laniakea steadily towers above all of Mesarthim releases so far. Favorite track: Laniakea - Part 1. The Great Attractor; Part 2. The Zone of Avoidance; Part 3. Dark Energy.
    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
Mesarthim vise l'excellence. Favorite track: The Degenerate Era.
    Brian Parker thumbnail
Brian Parker Black Space Metal or Cosmic Black Metal? Don’t know, but I love this band. Unique. Favorite track: The Degenerate Era.

Gore Tornado You don't understand HOW bad I need this on physical media. This EP is a MASTERPIECE. Favorite track: Presence.
    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
Favorite track: Eschaton Part II.
    Benommenheit thumbnail
Benommenheit Definitely my favorite album by Mesarthim. Favorite track: Presence.

    Ghuughra thumbnail
Ghuughra Somewhere, 1992, on an alternate version of Earth a young DJ Varg Vikernes headlines a Nordic barn-rave. He spins Vacuum Solution. Heads explode. Six year old Skrillex is spontaneously aborted post hoc. All is right with the world. Favorite track: Matter and Energy.
    birchbricker thumbnail
birchbricker Great record! I shouldn't like it because I don't care for electronic music... but this works. In a sea of bands that sound too similar to one another in their genres, this is unique. I really like this album.

    Obsidian One thumbnail
Obsidian One Mare Cognitum creates such incredible melodies and atmospheres through its unique blend of black metal and immersive aural presence. While Phobos Monolith is my favorite album by the artist, Solar Paroxysm is a must-have for all the same reasons. It's intense at times, always with catchy melodies, but with more feeling than similar artists in the genre. This is cosmic beauty expressed through ethereal and atmospheric black metal — and 'Frozen Star Divinization' is majestic, one of Mare's best. Favorite track: Frozen Star Divinization.
    Rentalbeef thumbnail
Rentalbeef It's been going on 5 years and this is still my favorite Black metal album of all time. Timeless and monster of a album.

Alice M. Edit more than a year later:
A more or less perfect album (and no, I don’t say that in every comment), despite the daring structure. The first track alone takes you on a real trip, and the transitions are nice as hell. Naming a favorite track would be an insult to this rock-solid triptych.

I’m not good with names, so to me this is “the great album with the dead horse on the cover”.
    elhater thumbnail
elhater Just a handful of black metal artists get to accomplish what we can call a "master piece". In this album, we can found one of those. It is remarkable how the sutile complexity and the utter beauty on this album work together. I got lucky and I buyed the last copy of this jewel.
Those who are looking for a refreshing not yet extravagant approach to black metal, I completely recomend Jord och aska, beleive me, you will have no regrets. Favorite track: Sänk mig i tystnad.
    Landon thumbnail
Landon Compelling and solid atmospheric black metal with a strong pagan feel. This album features satisfying clean and harsh vocals, great clean guitar work, and layered distorted guitars. The drums have a good amount of variety. A masterfully crafted melodic theme permeates the entirety of this record, bringing a remarkable sense of unity to the listening experience. Amazing!
