lucas_moore When I first stumbled on this album, it is all I listened to for the next MONTH! I looooove this record. Finally owning it on wax is such a joy.

Me and My Friends makes such enjoyable music. Everyone I play it for loves it, all the while, the music is still unique and interesting. This record is my absolute favorite.

    suvendubrk thumbnail
suvendubrk The album cover was my initial template to make my own poster work. Khruangbin, known by how Laura plays bass, has been a ecstatic series of flights they have taken me throughout my late 20s. Favorite track: Connaissais de Face.
    coffeemeyer thumbnail
coffeemeyer oh the grooves on this album Favorite track: So We Won’t Forget.
    Sami thumbnail
Sami Frankly, I could have picked any song as my favourite. This is a beautiful album! Favorite track: Connaissais de Face.

    Cyber Djin thumbnail
Cyber Djin Very unique band and reminds me the fucking good show on 22 Oct 2022, Sedel Club, Lucerne. Favorite track: A New Quest.
    tim_the_curator thumbnail
tim_the_curator Magic Sword keeps getting better and more mature. The first half (Side A) comes to an absolutely climactic finish in "Shores of Oblivion," but the second half (Side B) feels a little filler-y and less focused, relying too often on fadeouts when decisive endings would've strengthened each piece.

Still earns a recommendation, these guys are doing titantic work in the synthwave scene, but I look forward to their work maturing even further (or escaping any pressure to fill out LP durations). Favorite track: Empress.
    Hexilver thumbnail
Hexilver I first saw these guys live before I heard much of their music, and let me tell you, hearing the tracks from this album performed live without knowing them was mind-blowing. Listening to this full album afterwards blew me away again! The synths and soundscapes just transport you to another world entirely. Favorite track: A New Quest.

  1. The Universe Smiles Upon You
    by Khruangbin
    supported by
    Terrence Falconer thumbnail
Terrence Falconer i came here from a much more complex and disturbing background: from post-rock, slowcore and experimental media. Khruangbin aptly and concisely convey the sounds that i love to hear most. i hear vast background in those sonic fields including. it was a major discovery for me because initially i was skeptical about this music due to its popularity and emphasis on funk but that turned out to be beautiful Favorite track: White Gloves.
    ghostboy thumbnail
ghostboy buub dub doodli wu, bap doooop. Wait did I fall into a trance? Favorite track: Mr. White.
    Ryokan thumbnail
Ryokan I went half-way round the world, wandered my way into a side-street bar, only to have this come back on. I won't go as far as to say it's the soundtrack to the universe, but it certainly taps into a foundational rhythm of the world. Favorite track: Balls and Pins.

    Tacitum thumbnail
Tacitum Freaking legendary album. Nothing like it before, nothing like it since.

OHMSS, equal parts drum/bass and math rock: I love how the drum riff echoes the Morse Code of the song’s initials. Beyond genius. I know there’s little chance of the duo coming back together, so cheers and good fortune on all that they do. (Which is probably just as brilliant.) Favorite track: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
    continental_drifter thumbnail
continental_drifter Still as great today as it was 27 (!) years ago, now with the added bonus of several tracks you could only find on rare singles back in the day. The sound quality alone makes this a nice upgrade over your old CD-rip. Favorite track: Crash!.
    walfrnks70 thumbnail
walfrnks70 It has some of my favourite tracks on it, spybreak and lethal cut.

    Geology Penguin thumbnail
Geology Penguin I keep claiming the next HM album to be THE quintessential release and yet this album with its retro-corporate-aquatic aesthetic feels tailor-made for my creative spirit- the evocative track titles and lore wrapped in the misty atmospheres and textures of each track- its a top-tier experience. Let's just say I would drop an unreasonable amount on a quality vinyl release- until then I'll sit back and tend to my own landlocked department of marine sciences- these reports won't write themselves Favorite track: Green Seas Grey.
    kodasea thumbnail
kodasea Love the inner lore of this album and the ambient storytelling! Perfect for contemplating. Favorite track: The Stacks Dive.
    xeno_amen thumbnail
xeno_amen This album serves as excellent background music for the various aquariums I go to. Great work, Sub Hadal especially for me. Favorite track: Sub Hadal.

polinos Wonderful stroll through an entrancing garden af sound, which is a very personal Satie-like mix of a softer Steve Reich, a more western Terry Riley and a less teutonic but still mesmerizingly motorik Cluster. Minimalism hardly ever sounded this inviting before.
