tim_the_curator Magic Sword keeps getting better and more mature. The first half (Side A) comes to an absolutely climactic finish in "Shores of Oblivion," but the second half (Side B) feels a little filler-y and less focused, relying too often on fadeouts when decisive endings would've strengthened each piece.
Still earns a recommendation, these guys are doing titantic work in the synthwave scene, but I look forward to their work maturing even further (or escaping any pressure to fill out LP durations). Favorite track: Empress.more...
Hexilver I first saw these guys live before I heard much of their music, and let me tell you, hearing the tracks from this album performed live without knowing them was mind-blowing. Terrence Falconer i came here from a much more complex and disturbing background: from post-rock, slowcore and experimental media. Khruangbin aptly and concisely convey the sounds that i love to hear most. i hear vast background in those sonic fields including. it was a major discovery for me because initially i was skeptical about this music due to its popularity and emphasis on funk but that turned out to be beautiful Favorite track: White Gloves.

OHMSS, equal parts drum/bass and math rock: I love how the drum riff echoes the Morse Code of the song’s initials. Beyond genius. I know there’s little chance of the duo coming back together, so cheers and good fortune on all that they do. (Which is probably just as brilliant.) Favorite track: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
continental_drifter Still as great today as it was 27 (!) years ago, now with the added bonus of several tracks you could only find on rare singles back in the day. The sound quality alone makes this a nice upgrade over your old CD-rip. Favorite track: Crash!.

Geology Penguin I keep claiming the next HM album to be THE quintessential release and yet this album with its retro-corporate-aquatic aesthetic feels tailor-made for my creative spirit- the evocative track titles and lore wrapped in the misty atmospheres and textures of each track- its a top-tier experience.
