Soulcrifice This band has grown on me in the past few months as I've explored more of the genre. The sheer brutality and pummeling drums provide non-stop brutality, and I can't get enough. Favorite track: Fifty Ton War Machine.

Dan Hébert Longtime fans didn't seem to warm to this album because of the reduced slam-based songwriting, but I appreciated the variety. Erik Rutan's production is also a bonus, it fucking sizzles. Favorite track: Heaving Acid.

Dr Sküllfük Without exaggeration, I consider this to be the greatest death metal album of all time, and the pinnacle of extreme music more broadly. I’ve been listening to it regularly since it came out in 2019, and it somhow still manages to get better and stay so fresh. It redefines what slam can be as a subgenre, every detail perfect from the production to the instrumentation and vocals to the insane riffs and song structures. Impossible to pick one favourite track. Absolutely essential listening. Favorite track: Cognitive Sedation Butchery.

avajnelez1 Devourment really got bacc on tracc with this filth of a release. I love how the artwork and the titles aren't that explicit, and to an unsuspecting listener, it seems like just a run of the mill death metal album. However, it is anything but. These guys don't need explicit anything, the music speaks for itself. I believe this is literally ONE OF the heaviest albums EVER created. The filthy production only makes it better. The last song has an unexpected lyrical twist. So listen till the end. Favorite track: Truculent Antipathy.
