K2 Cocky A breathtaking album, simply put.
    ultor3 thumbnail
ultor3 Had this before as digital Bandcamp download, but The Dividing really hits different from vinyl, especially Kingdom of One and Stained Favorite track: Kingdom of One.
    catharsis_cat thumbnail
catharsis_cat Excellent mood and atmosphere with enough going on to still command your attention. Listening to it makes me feel like I am almost in another state of mind. Really organic sounding despite being electronic. Nothing else quite like it. Favorite track: Fall to Fragments.
    Trevor Woodhouse thumbnail
Trevor Woodhouse The album is brought to even greater sound quality with this reissue and has some awesome remixes to go along with it, the Collide remix being my personal favorite. The original Demo of Stained is a perfect ending. It comes housed in a beautiful Gatefold with awesome artwork. Favorite track: Kingdom of One (Collide Mix).

Singed Minge The websites I visit to find new tunes suck!! Where the hell are the mentions of this album!? Been out since February O.o
...I feel robbed of 10 months enjoyment. Transcending Obscurity 2022 sampler to the rescue :)
Can't wait to blast this on my next road trip!!! Favorite track: Cosmogony.
    IDE thumbnail
IDE There are some dissonant parts, but they are not a band that fits into the dissonant death metal box, they make a more diverse and advanced death metal. Very good. ★
    Dan Curhan thumbnail
Dan Curhan Angular and riffy, superbly engaging and vicious, this hits in all the right places. It comes out swinging with a sonic hellscape dredged up from death metal's ugly underbelly, but mellows into melody as the album progresses. The album meanders through more varied moods and atmospheres than just the usual jarring dissonance of Gorgutsian obtuseness, which to me gives it a much richer palette and more replay value. Excellent all the way through.
    Jake W. thumbnail
Jake W. A strong contender for AOTY in 2021. There's passion, precision, guts, and beauty in this thing, and there's not nearly enough fanfare around this album. If I owned a label, I'd sign them right this minute. Favorite track: Beyond The Wall Of Sleep.

    bcb723 thumbnail
bcb723 Have prob listened to this close to 15 times in the past few weeks. First, this is some expertly played, written & executed progressive metal that sometimes ventures into DM territory. Second, "Egoiista" takes a commitment of the listener's time to fully appreciate what Exist have accomplished. It may not be for everyone's taste but to me this is completely immersive. Also glad to see Max Phelps again reach the creative heights he previously displayed on Defeated Sanity's colossal "Dharmata." Favorite track: The Lottery.
    deanrispler thumbnail
deanrispler Extremely impressive record here. Mixing up many genres to create their own version of progressive and melodic tech-death plus. If King Crimson and King's X were to form a band in early 90s Tampa during the death metal explosion, this is what we would have. Highly recommended. Favorite track: The Lottery.

    bcb723 thumbnail
bcb723 I've been wrestling with this album for 6 months. Nug's "Alter Ego" is quality post-metal, ok? That being said I have not written my thoughts because I've also been going through a huge Cult of Luna phase for almost like 15 years lol. So when Nug decides to drop this in between two massive CoL releases, it puts in stark contrast to me how this record just kind of pales in comparison to their greatness. "Alter Ego" just doesn't move me emotionally like "A Dawn To Fear." But then, what else can?
    migoumoiriotte thumbnail
migoumoiriotte Une pépite, c'est ce qui définit un album où rien, pas la moindre piste, pas la moindre seconde, n'est à jeter. Merci. Favorite track: Dorian / Доріан.
    Valdyr666 thumbnail
Valdyr666 Crushingly heavy, with just enough lighter passages to keep you sane. Favorite track: Shores / Береги.

jordan Love me a late-in-the-year AOTY contender. Absolutely killer prog-death.
    Herman thumbnail
Herman Did you ask Santa for a great follow up to the perfect debut? Either way, this band released a great sophomore effort considering their earth shattering debut.
    Iwein Denayer thumbnail
Iwein Denayer This album deserves all the praise it can get. Whipsmart songwriting and a very honest and pure production that gives all the instruments more than enough space to breathe. This one"s a grower too. With each spin, i discover new things as i get to know the songs on a deeper level. Please, invest time in this album, for your energy and patience will be rewarded tenfold.
This is easily one of the best contemporary (Belgian) death metal releases. Yes, it's that good.
Favorite track: Heretical Experiments In The Subterranean Citadel.

    arachnofodder99 thumbnail
arachnofodder99 Found this album completely by accident while searching for a different song, but the cover art was just so striking I had to check it out. This album has single-handedly gotten me into death metal. This is absolutely killer! and so insanely layered! Gives me goosebumps. Favorite track: Out Of Gas.
    hellbendervinyl thumbnail
hellbendervinyl Heck yeah Pyrrhon! The vinyl pressing for this record was lovingly handled by Hellbender Vinyl (hellbendervinyl.com) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Put it on your turntable and let it ride! Favorite track: Not Going To Mars.
    dickersdone thumbnail
dickersdone 'Exhaust' finds its perfect title here: it sounds demented, then out of breath, and finally frustrated, with all its power consumed.

This band is for the brain. It’s for the people who love mind-fucking nonsense, and who somehow find beauty in technical extravaganzas. But this creative process resembles a need that comes from the heart—from a pure love for music. Favorite track: Stress Fractures.

SYRINX OFFICIAL Anciients weave crushing riffs with astral melodies, It feels less like listening and more like traversing — through shadowed valleys, into blinding peaks, where doom, prog, and groove converge... Favorite track: Celestial Tyrant.

progdolphin The dissolution of Tiso’s flagship project, Ephal Duath has left a scar, a gloom, that has festered in memory and stained the landscape that Red Rot oozes forth. As such, Mal de Vivre, true to the expression’s definition, tackles, grief, longing--sadboi colors tackled with huge gothic doom slides and scathing dissonant melodies amongst vicious vignettes. Tiso has both opened new sonic doors and, hopefully, closed a few dark chapters in his life--I'm excited to see where Red Rot goes next. Favorite track: After the Funeral.
