ryrypeeshaw mind numbing rock n roll. hypnotic Favorite track: The Dripping Tap (Demo 3).
    Xtra Happy thumbnail
Xtra Happy Funnily enough, this and the Chicago '23 bootleg dropped as I was on the train up to see Gizz live in Manchester (amazing gig btw), so it's nice to have new demos and oddities as a cherry on top of a great weekend.

The electronic ones really hit off here: 'Marble' is some dark trip-hop type shit, 'Moses' and 'Not Enough Time...Land' wouldn't go amiss at a 3am rave in a warehouse, and 'O.N.E.''s demo/demo #4 of 'The Dripping Tap' are some nice chill ditties of the intro riffs for both songs. Favorite track: Moses.

Xtra Happy Another peek behind the creative process curtain, and my what a peak it is! 'Party Potential' sounds like a Made In Timeland outtake (if such a thing even exists), the two short BF3K-like snippets 'Mariposa' (used in the BF3K Ocular Edition trailer) and 'Kelebek' are quite cute, and the heavier tracks dont disappoint ('Uncolonise' is the perfect blend of MOTU riffs and Rats' Nest thrash). And finally, do I even detect...hints of dungeon synth in 'Worm' and 'Music To Die To'? Yes. Bloody. Please. Favorite track: Uncolonise.

cartep (this applies to all demo records) It's king gizzard's variety and willingness to experiment that gets me so excited about them, peeling back the curtain in this way inspires me. Music is a craft like anything else and someday, maybe I will inspire people like they inspire me Favorite track: Most of What I Like (Demo).
    Xtra Happy thumbnail
Xtra Happy Demo tracks are always cool to listen to - it's like peeling back the top layer of sheen off the final product and seeing where the initial ideas came from. Some songs barely change conceptually, whereas others, like the Automation Demo, barely share the same bed with their finished counterpart. Some real gems here - Straws' is a long hazy jam, Automation was clearly intended for / used as a template for Rats' Nest, and Planet B chugs along aggressively (somehow the drum machine makes it) Favorite track: Straws In The Wind (Demo).

    baconshelf thumbnail
baconshelf The first shows of the incredible Euro 2025 run, and performed with a ridiculous energy. The stupidly heavy People-Vultures is a particular brainworm for me. Favorite track: People-Vultures (Live in Lisbon '25).
