The Tonearm "I have always been interested in a full band and how you can create sounds that you struggle to do by yourself . . . What the guys bring to the project is essential to Modern Woman now. There’s a full bandwidth there."

bartonim What immediately struck me about this album is how Lucinda uses both the spaces where the sound fills everything and the near-quiet bits, but neither element overtakes the other. Imagine her sound as line drawings with the occasional splash of watercolour. I don't think I've heard such a concise and effective approach to the beauty of the economy of sound since Mark Hollis. An exquisite triumph. Favorite track: Something Other Than Years.
