    janusrig thumbnail
janusrig I know I am a late arrival at the hospice, but I have to share that I Absolutely love this album. Tears my soul apart and puts it back together again. So many haunting tracks. The dreamlike atmosphere. The brutally honest lyrics. I got really lost in this piece of Art. Favorite track: Wake.
    HMz thumbnail
HMz One of, if not the most passionately sorrowful album ever. Favorite track: Thirteen.

turbotoebi This album hits harder than a sledge hammer. The combined elements shouldn't work - and then they do so perfectly. An album of immense intensity and creativity. Favorite track: The Law of Asbestos.

    dickersdone AU TEMPS DES ANARCHITECTURES

'Hostile Architecture' does not feel cathartic to me, but quite the opposite: it is an inner suicide, a muffled and terrified sob that brushes against the concrete like an icy breeze.

It is so subtle that it could easily be missed.

The doomy, atmospheric guitars and the dangerous, fast blast beats contrast beautifully with the sharp orchestral elements. Yet, the production manages to unify everything with unwavering solidity, in a cold, grey, béton armé. Favorite track: Plattenbau Persephone Praxis.
    Roo Vandegrift thumbnail
Roo Vandegrift Wow, this album just won't stop! It might well be my favorite "black metal" (but this is so genre defying that I hate to really put a genre label on it) album of the past decade. The music is incredible, the jazziness and the tension, the performances are virtuosic, the production is stellar, and the vocals are indescribable, like a cross between an impassioned soap-box preacher, and the voice in my own head telling me to fight the injustices of a cruel system. Favorite track: Béton Brut.

    Madeline v. F. thumbnail
Madeline v. F. I admit I mostly bought this album for nostalgia purposes (and because I no longer have a tape deck). But guys, that first track!! It’s like a magic portal opens in your floor from which a psychopomp beckons you to follow on a meandering underworld quest of self discovery… and when you finally come back (10 hours later?) to that sweet opening riff, it feels like some Joseph Campbell hero’s homecoming shit. Favorite track: Brave.
    Frostspell thumbnail
Frostspell I remember hearing Brave first some time around 2009. I could never shake it off ever since. I felt forced to play it over and over. Parts sometimes randomly pop up in my head. I love it so much. Favorite track: Brave.
    satangutsandchristcorpsepaint thumbnail
satangutsandchristcorpsepaint I wish I could just crawl up inside of all those delicious riffs and live there happily ever after. Long live Brave Murder Day. 🖤
    Alice M. thumbnail
Alice M. Katatonia with truckloads of the nice blackened Åkerfeldt growls of the good old times, and the “Sounds of Decay” EP (1997) is included.

JT EXTREME Incredible Bandcamp-suggested death doom from 2013. Repetitive, drill-in-your-brain riffs that bring it six-to-midnight. Don't miss this gem.

    A thumbnail
A I had to search to verify that these guys actually have only the releases on offer here (truth, according to archives) because, despite the limited life span, these guys sound well established. They have found their sound; it is forceful and strong.

I walked through the gates of uncreation and found I could not find. And it was good.
    Dylan Smart thumbnail
Dylan Smart The noise of horror, digging it's way out of the earth. Favorite track: Crossing the Abysmal Depths.

    Thou!MirrorWitch thumbnail
Thou!MirrorWitch Bell Witch plunges the listener into the icy depths of grief with Mirror Reaper, forcing a direct confrontation with the dead, time, and purgatory. The 1 1/2 hour runtime of this album is the exploration of a ghost caught between life and death, and accurately portrays the experience.
