Chicagobass Lush, entrancing soundscapes that evoke nautical seascapes. This could be a soundtrack for the Pequod's voyage to find Moby Dick. Favorite track: Modest.

gthomas I really dig how up front the drums are here, darting in and out and around the vocals Favorite track: Devil Does.
    sjb thumbnail
sjb A pleasantly off-kilter mixture of dark singer/songwriter intimacy, sunshine soaked Brazilian influences, and fuzzy electronic flourishes. Favorite track: Devil Does.

    jerome vs caryzzl thumbnail
jerome vs caryzzl Back in early 2000's I was lucky enough to see Son of Dave and thought "that man's doing something I need". Every release he's issued and I've bought has taken me somewhere in my head that just makes sense and matters. This latest release delivers all the authentic, rough, rootsy, kind and loving feel that I want from music. All hail Son of Dave - the originator, the force, the joy.
    morcego thumbnail
morcego I mean, they are all excellent, but Celeigh's vocals push this one over the top. Favorite track: Where's The Party At.

    lydrd thumbnail
lydrd I was a bit skeptical that an instrumental album was a good way for two of the best lyricists alive to spend their time, but this album is so good you guys. Every week, I meditate as the album plays. It puts me right back in preschool nap time -- I feel safe and whole. I'm writing this less than a week into Trump's second administration, and this album makes it all feel manageable, which given the circumstances is quite a feat.

    binkymarsh29 The drone is real.
Enough tongue in cheek humor to balance the relentless drone and seriousness. Love it all.
Lankum never misstep and this album is great from beginning to end. Favorite track: The Granite Gaze.

omarazam In the style of King Tubby, SV proves himself a master of live dubbing and morphing otherwise passable modern tunes with his deft ear and thic ass thunderous bass grooves and takes you on relentless and inexhaustibly listenable trips through space and time into the heart of roots dub. Favorite track: A5 Jah Jah Dub feat. King Cobrizo.
    followthewaydan thumbnail
    followthewaydan Modern Old School Reggae.
Heavy intricate rhythms, floating keyboards, subtle horn lines, Dub (ech-o-o-es), and very very slight vocals fading in and out (here and there).

    Vladimir Chicken thumbnail
Vladimir Chicken The world's best producer hands down. The first time I heard a Vic Rice-produced record (This Good Thing by the Stingers ATX) I didn't know what had hit me or why it sounded so different to everything else I'd ever heard. Master of sound. Favorite track: A2 Major Vikkly Dub feat. Cedric IM Brooks & Kevin Batchelor.
