The guys pull out the guitars and hide out in the studio to cover of some great songs! If I had to pick a favorite off this album, it would be T Bone Burnett's "River of Love". Bendy Line by Steve Hindalong is a close second. "Live Simple" is the perfect title for this album. This also has my now favorite cover of "Wayfaring Stranger".

It's like a jam session at a 4th of July picnic. Derri and Mike pull together a variety of songs from some great writers like Phil Madeira (Don't you Weep When I Die and Ghost of Johnny Cash). A good mix of back porch music: songs that make you want to sing along or get up and slow dance with that special girl. Then sit back and contemplate the things that need contemplation. Blends of electric, slide and acoustic guitars with some drums and an accordion thrown in for good measure.

In a word: Introspective. I like music that doesn't get old and lyrics that makes you think without depressing you: this ticks both boxes. There's nothing shallow about these albums. It's Bob Dylan meets Bass Guitar. The Call should have gotten more airplay in the 80's and 90s and when his remastered set came out it jumped to the top of my must have list.

Didn't understand these were covers of each others works when I discovered. The songs dig deep both lyrically, musically and spiritually. A great intro to the world of The Lost Dogs.

A musical road trip with the ghosts of America's 20th Century. The depressions (past and present) along with the hopes of a simple, honest, and better life away from the crowded cities. WARNING: you may start planning a road trip of your own after listening. (But I think that's the point)
