Weeping Wailer That solo..my god. The shrieking, synth, drums, all of it goes so well together. Favorite track: Pagan Victory.
    stoneja thumbnail
stoneja Even with everything that's come to pass (and all that's not), you've still gotta feel at least a little awestruck in the face of good ol' fashioned E-vil. When it continues to inspire addictively raw, foundational BM at this level of achievement. Symphonic keys and earworm flourishes in support of throwback bangers sporting tremolo riffs-upon-riffs-upon-riffs: sure, Nächtlich didn't get here first—but they sure as hell go all the way there. Ungodly good time. Wicked catchy.
    wilspang thumbnail
wilspang This is What Raw Black should be about.
Barbaric vocals, Groovy Bass and drums, Evil riffs and the perfect amount of synth through out.
What more do you need? Probably some of the best Raw black since The Kommodus debut.
A must for black metal fans Favorite track: Pagan Victory.

wurmphlegm Such a raw masterpiece. This was my 2024 AOTY right here. It's amazing. Favorite track: Eyes Toward The Idol.

    Urso X thumbnail
Urso X Builds on the raw dsbm of their s/t EP by significantly punching up the tempo, anguish/menace (esp. those vocals, holy shit), and songwriting, while also expanding their sonic palette and sharpening production. A huge leap forward!

PS — In case you’re wondering why this sounds vaguely Déhà-adjacent, vocalist D. Naga is Déhà :)

PPS — Recorded live, WTF?! Favorite track: Cendres.
    Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) thumbnail
Nocturnal Egg (Jordan) 《 Ils vivaient d'une vie autre que la leur. 》
    — A World in Their Screams. Elend.

Immense ! Favorite track: A la Gloire des Détestés.

H.L. OERHEKS play raw yet atmospheric underground black metal featuring epic song lengths. I believe this unpolished sound is entirely intentional. The concept works well, too; it frequently conjures a mysterious atmosphere, and—at their best—the songs feel intense and dynamic, with quiet passages or spoken-word sections providing welcome variety. The opener doesn't quite resonate with me yet, but "Goden op de Heuvel" is a dark masterpiece. Favorite track: Goden op de Heuvel.
