richmondpinball Caught you all play in Raleigh last night. One of the best sets of music I’ve seen live. Thanks for a great show
    Glenn Lester thumbnail
Glenn Lester Our Man In Jazz meets Red meets Band Of Gypsys meets Instrument Soundtrack…Uptown. AOTY? Yes, sir! Favorite track: Serpent Tongue (Slight Return).
    dianekupelian thumbnail
dianekupelian Another devastatingly powerful yet beautiful album by the most interesting instrumental band operating today. Do not miss these guys if they play near you. All the tracks are favorites, but special stand-outs include The Rules of The Game, Clutch, 30 Years of Knowing, and, with its sly reference to Hendrix in its title, Serpent Tongue (Slight Return). This is a band that folks will be talking about decades from now.
    chuckiesparkles thumbnail
chuckiesparkles With the first two Messthetics albums, in order to get them to feel as this one and the other one with JBL you have to yell "JAZZBO" before every song. I'm glad that adding such a fantastic Sax player solved that. Favorite track: Deface the Currency.

krotix Rock/Jazz a real good outing for all with plenty of room to shift around. Favorite track: Four-door Charger.
    Andrew Farrell thumbnail
Andrew Farrell Space rock par excellence. Can't wait to enjoy it with some edibles. In the bio they don't mention anything about Ethan Miller being in probably the best rock band ever; Heron Oblivion. Best show I've been to in years. Hope these guys make it to Chicago. The Beat Kitchen is waiting. Favorite track: An L.A. Funeral.

    jread thumbnail
jread Tsunami is tragically underrated band. Hard to pick a favorite track, but A Brilliant Mistake (and its first track Old Grey Mare) stands out as a practically a concept album about the collapse of DIY music scenes brought about record producers looking for the next Nirvana. Favorite track: Old Grey Mare.

Nik Havert The tour for this album was the first time I got to see them live. They, and this record, didn't disappoint.

    MateoFlo thumbnail
MateoFlo I was one of the few who couldn't quite embrace "New Long Leg", so when they released the follow-up "Stumpwork", it was much easier to embrace. More haunting, adventurous and brooding than its' predecessor. Favorite track: Anna Calls From The Arctic.
    LIQUIDACIÓN DE SANTOS thumbnail

    impressivelad thumbnail
impressivelad Chanced upon Horse Lords at End Of The Road festival, instantly smitten and acquired this LP. It's thoroughly hypnotic and so easy to get lost in their multi-lateral grooves. Favorite track: Law of Movement.

m҉ a҉ r҉ i҉ a҉ n҉ o҉ My favorite Arthur collection. Even decades after he’s left us we still get blessed by more of his music. Kudos to his estate and Audika for always doing right by his work.
    Dave thumbnail
Dave The second half in particular--from "Hey! How Does Everybody Know" onward--has some of the best production of anything recorded in the eighties. Colorful, singular, and astoundingly musical--it's a cool sequence. Happy this is being re-released on vinyl.
