C. K.
Effervescent and joyful jazz. I made a banana cream pie while dancing to this in the kitchen. The playfulness between the cello and the other instruments is grounded and bright.

Oo long! is the standout for me. Halvorson digs deep to produce the best homage to Sonny I’ve heard. Great, great record. (Do I hear a nod to Green Chimneys in the title track?)
The Tonearm
"[The cello] opens up endless possibilities because it can play so many different roles. I'm sure I haven't explored all of them—I try to explore as much as I can, but there are others exploring it in their own way, and there's no one path."

Holy crap. I think I'm about to sell everything I own, buy an old Ford Pinto, and follow these guys around like some modern day Greatful Dead parking lot. I swear to god they get better with every record. So raw!

Love the whole album, but sss (sweet sunny south) is my favorite. This version feels like it must be true to the original 1865 version!
