  1. I Feel Alive
    by TOPS

    np3_music thumbnail
np3_music TOPS reinvigorated my love for music all over again and ironically, all starting with one song, Ballads & Sad Movies. How Janes voice hits in the second verse with the line "listen, I just don't know who I am anymore" accompanied by the snare from Riley, my soul felt things I hadn't felt for a long time and since that discovery a few years ago they have remained one of my favourite bands of all time. This whole album is fantastic and makes me feel like Patrick Hernandez. ∞/10 Favorite track: Ballads & Sad Movies.

Curt Gets better with each listen. Great variety and a ton of ear wormy lyrics. She's Leaving You is a new fav. Favorite track: She's Leaving You.
    cr4shmycar thumbnail
cr4shmycar I have NEVER heard anyone else do the slacker rock-slash-country twang MJ Lenderman does. And he writes some of the most dryly sarcastic, cutting lyrics ever. "Please don't laugh, only half of what I said was a joke" is a line of all time. Favorite track: Joker Lips.

-ka2ra- What a sweetheart, amazing songwriter! Favorite track: You Don't Know The Shape I'm In.

Mike Delejewski Real Estate's "Main Thing" is full off well-crafted lazy breezy jangles, perfect for summer outdoor listens. Another solid effort from the boys of Brooklyn.
    Nicholas Kent thumbnail
Nicholas Kent This is one of those rare albums that lived up to and surpassed the hype leading up to the release. This record has some of their catchiest (November) and most beautiful (Brother) tracks to date. I'll never get tired of this band. Favorite track: November.

Nathan Smith One of the most hauntingly beautiful albums of all time from one of the most underrated bands of all time. Perfect for rainy-day drives up and down avenues of century-old homes while reminiscing about youth spent and love lost. Alasdair, James, & Mark crafted a masterpiece with this one and it will forever remain a part of me. Favorite track: Lamplight.

    6. Visceral but delicate, vague but specific...songwriting on a tight-wire that only masters like these two can possibly pull off, let alone the Concept Album trap itself...breathtaking.
    7. Just something they 'casually' tossed off while on tour together... y'know. The (perceived or real) nonchalance of brilliant work. Favorite track: Lucifer Rising.

    Gilliflower thumbnail
Gilliflower The moment I finally "got" Will Oldham's unique form of genius was when I heard this album playing in an Austin coffeeshop just before the turn of the millennium. I immediately went and bought the CD, of course. Nice to be able to easily grab this on vinyl here and now. Favorite track: Nomadic Revelry (All Around)
